This place was the perfect size for our two families of four. With four adults and four kids, having two living room areas was ideal—it gave the kids their own space, which helped them settle down at night. The location was also fantastic! We loved being able to walk to the dock to fish and then spend our days at the Lake Michigan beaches. The only suggestion I have is to improve communication with the owner, as messages sent through VRBO didn’t seem to go through.

Very nice location.

Property was great. We didn’t want to leave. We will definitely be staying there again.

We stayed at In the Narrows on Lake Leelanau for two nights. The location was excellent — close to the boat launch, restaurants, coffee shops, and local stores. Check-in was simple, parking was easy, and the cottage was generally clean on the surface. However, the property is extremely outdated and feels largely unchanged for decades. The furnishings, towels, and overall condition show significant age and wear, and the home would benefit from meaningful updates to improve comfort. The listing should also be updated to accurately reflect what the property offers. Although dock access was advertised, there was no usable space to park a boat, and the water view from the home is minimal. This was a major factor in choosing the rental, so the lack of clarity was disappointing. We also encountered cleanliness issues. The bedding had noticeable dog hair, and the dryer was full of hair and debris, requiring extensive cleaning before we could wash the linens. While the owner responded politely, no assistance or solution was offered. This cottage has potential due to its location, but guests should be aware that it is very dated and that some amenities described in the listing may not match the actual experience.
