We had a great stay at The Merry Mermaid! We stayed May 11-16 and it was great. In my opinion, the pictures on the website do not do this place justice! It is so cute and very tastefully decorated. The beach is a short walk away. There are two pretty easy beach access points located not far from the house. One is a very short walk and the other is a little further down the road and that one has steps/ramp. The other one you have to walk up and over a sand dune which was not a problem for us but for someone with more mobility issues they might want to use the other one.The pool was a little cool for the time of year that we stayed but we had great weather in Nags Head and it didn't stop us from still laying out by the pool and soaking up the sun! The turf by the pool was also very nice and convenient so you don't have to worry about hot pavement. We were also traveling with pets and it was sooooo nice to not only have the fenced in yard but to also have all the gates on the decks. We would just open the sliding door to let the dogs out and they were able to go down the stairs to the yard without having to be on a leash. It was very pet friendly! Communication with the rental company was also very good! We had trouble on the first day with the entry lockbox and I called and someone was able to help me right away. I can't say enough good things about The Merry Mermaid and we would not hesitate to stay there again! :)
