Enjoyed the place. Nice and peaceful

Our stay at this unique berm house was the perfect setup for a weekend getaway with the guys. The cabin’s underground design is more than just a cool architectural feature—it kept the home naturally cool and served as a solid, spacious basecamp for us to gear up and recharge.The property is a premier destination for anyone looking to get out into the elements. Having Chain Lake just steps away makes it easy to get on the water to reach the falls or put in some serious time fishing for trout and bass. A true standout is the historic Great Northern railroad bed; it’s a rugged, scenic route that offers a perspective of the valley you won't find anywhere else. With 60 acres of private land and vast backcountry right at the doorstep, the terrain is built for high-energy exploration, hunting, and demanding treks through the Inland Northwest wilderness.What truly elevated our experience, however, was the host. When we asked to add more friends to the booking, she didn't miss a beat. She was incredibly accommodating, making it clear that our group’s opportunity to make memories was her priority over any logistical inconvenience. We have a deep appreciation for her hospitality; it is rare to find a place that offers this kind of grit and adventure backed by a host so committed to ensuring a legendary stay. If you’re looking to reconnect with friends in the Pacific Northwest, this is the spot.

This was such a gem in the middle of nowhere. It was so relaxing with very few people around and the two gentleman we interacted with were incredibly nice. The hosts were very accommodating and kind. The kitchen has everything that you could need. The beds are super comfortable and the house stays warm after you get the temperature up. The two seats in the kitchen are the best and we spent many long hours basking in the sun inside when it was chillier reading and looking out at the lake and all the birds. We were able to get out on the lake a few times to check it out and got to see a blue heron, a beaver, some turtles and an otter. My husband works remotely and he was able to easily do so in the wonderful little office. We hope to come back again when the weather is warmer to be able to actually swim in the lake and enjoy some warmer summer days. It is truly a wonderful place.

We were looking for a quiet place on water to just sit back and relax. This place was perfect!As we got further and further from town the road got smaller and smaller until it was just a steep drive down towards the lake. We came around the final bend and weren't sure what to expect. The drive was definitely worth it.This rustic cabin built into the berm had everything you could want, fully furnished, towels, bedding, microwave, stove... a fully functioning house. Since the temperatures were hovering around 90F there was some concerns about there not being AC. Totally unfounded! It was noticeably cooler inside even in the heat of the day. Berm really is cool!!Although the helpful hosts, Renee and Jeff, made us aware of many things to do we just wanted to sit around and relax. We did take time out to watch the deer and geese play, use the handy BBQ to cook, and go sit by the lake and enjoy the stunning views. They have two small dogs that came to say hi a couple of times a day but were quiet and well behaved, not bothering us one bit. Jeff even walked me around the property showing me the fruit tress he's growing and let sample the fruit fresh off the trees. We supplied our food and beverage, everything else was available for us.A great, relaxing holiday is what we wanted and that's exactly what we got.Again, many thanks Renee and Jeff.
