This was a gem of a find. Location was perfect, in the heart of this tiny town, opposite the waterfall entrance. It was about a 30 min walk from the train station, or there are regular buses - as it is an uphill walk! We had super weather for September and enjoyed a couple of late afternoon drinks on their sunny terrace. This is a proper family run, traditional hotel, with an incredibly good chef! Having your evening meals here is a must. I would highly recommend the venison!! We also had breakfasts here too as other local options were limited - but it was a great buffet style offering. All staff were helpful.

This is a traditional Black Forest hotel, so don’t expect plush bathrooms and large walk in showers - it’s not what they’re about. Rooms are simple, but clean, with comfy beds and water bottles left in the rooms for guests - and a chocolate on arrival.
