All the basics worked well. However, contrary to listing, there was no dishwasher. The floors in family room and kitchen were sticky and dirty. The coffee pot in the kitchen still had grounds in the pot from previous guests. The family room blinds were broken so there was no privacy in the back of the house. I also found the expectation that guests should run 2 loads of laundry prior to departure at 11:00 am quite onerous. Furthermore there was a lack of lighting in the family room and living room.

My husband, son, and I had the good fortune to find this listing for our annual visit to Champaign over Christmas. It was exactly what we were looking for; pet-friendly, clean, safe, and well-provisioned. The check-in and check-out process was flawless and Karen was an excellent communicator and replied within minutes of contact. The neighborhood is quiet and central to multiple relatives' homes which makes checking on the dog very convenient. As most of our time there was spent sleeping, we were pleased with how comfortable the beds were and how soft and high quality the sheets were. My only tiny complaint would be that the bath towels in the primary bath were a bit worn and threadbare. Pretty minor on the grand scale. Having a washer and dryer on the premises for a longer stay is another feature I will take advantage of next time. I will absolutely book this property again and recommend it to others.

Overall pleased. Plenty of space for us 5 girls although could use additional comfy seating for after shopping movies. Kitchen staples a little lacking (no spices or condiments except salt and pepper. No sharp knives or glassware), but Thanksgiving dinner was a success. We bought steak knives and disposal bake pans for our untraditional dinner of grilled steaks and traditional side dishes. Our host Karen had grill and charcoal available to us so that was a big plus. Very quiet and clean neighborhood. Was a little surprised of checkout process of washing dishes (no dishwasher) and running a couple loads of wash. (Hope the previous guests cleaned as well as we did). But overall we had a fantastic trip and would definitely stay there again. Thanks Karen 😊

What a great place to have your out of town family stay! Plenty of backyard room for a gathering and a lovely indoor patio. Quiet and safe neighborhood near grocery, restaurants and UIUC. We will be back!

House was well-kept, clean, and worked well for the 4 of us. Brought our two small dogs and they enjoyed the large fenced back yard and walks around the neighborhood. Not far from campus and other amenities.

We had a great time staying at Southwood House! It easily accommodated 6 adults, with plenty of room to spread out. It was stocked with everything we could have needed, and Karen was quick to answer any questions we had. The location is a short drive to campus, and there are several restaurant options nearby. We'll definitely try to stay here next time we come to cheer on the Illini!!

It was quiet day and night . Noise is the main reason we don’t like to stay in hotels. The instructions were clear and easy to follow. The bed was fairly comfortable. It was surprising how dark the house was at night with its location. We remedied the situation with a little night light. All in all great vacation and would rebook.

Stocked with snacks, cleaning products, plastic dishes for kids even a high chair for those traveling with little ones. It’s about 15 min from campus.

We were in town for a Family Friend's Semi Annual Party, and the location to their house was Perfect less than a 5 minute Drive. I could see if you were in town for an University of Illinois sporting event it would also be a great location. We were close to stores for shopping and though we spent most of our time out of the house there was plenty of space to spread out. It looked to have a beautifully large yard as well.
Everything was very clean and updated looking, and the Check in process was very easy and the house cooled down very quickly during an unusually high heat wave. Would gladly stay again if I found myself in the area with a group of people.

We were coming in town for a long weekend
celebrating my grandpa's 90th birthday and didn't want to stay at a basic hotel... this was perfect, from location to space, down to the simple check in, communicative host, and small refreshments waiting at the house for our arrival. Thank you for making our stay so enjoyable!

We stayed for a baseball tournement and had plenty of options for food and shopping in Champaign. Commute to the ball park was about 15 minutes. We would stay here again! Very clean and well equipped. Host was kind and responsive.

We were in town to visit family. House was perfect! Clean, plenty of space to host our family dinner, huge back yard for our little dog and kids to play. Grill for cookout, everything we needed for cooking meals. Great family room with large table, tv, games! Location was perfect! Close easy access to everything. Would definitely book here again. Karen responded to all our needs quickly and was very accommodating 😊

Great place to stay for graduation, quiet neighborhood, grocery 2 blocks away, and straight shot in to campus.
House is clean, water pressure is great (important!) we had a great stay and would return for sure.

We had 5 adults in our group and we came to visit my son and his fiance, It was a perfect place to hang out with them.

This was the perfect little house for our long weekend getaway. Plenty of room for everyone to have their own space. We love the back family room with the large table that we played games at every night. We would highly recommend this property!

House was perfect for a group of older Alumni attending a football game Go Illini! As we were a group of seven, we rented 2 houses and this house was far better equipped than the other house. Check-in and Check-out both were easy and clearly defined by the host. She responded almost immediately to the few questions I had and graciously accommodated my arrival 45 minutes early.
We will probably rent this house for a game next year.

Great house to stay at for visiting my student athlete, was able to make a home cooked meal for the kid and go to his game the next day. Perfect location not to far off Kirby Ave.

Property was clean, well supplied and sits in a quite neighborhood. Kids loved the bunk bed. The bed in the master bedroom was reasonably comfortable. Overall we enjoyed our stay and thank you for your great service!

The house is older but very nice and clean. The owner was very nice. Our rental car broke down the morning we were leaving. The owner let us stay at the house until we could get a replacement rental car. We had a great stay.
