Every minute of our stay was a treat. The service was next level and always on point. We felt pampered from the time we were welcomed with a rose petal shower on entry to our check out time. Every nook and cranny is just lovely. We dined on the roof at Bhairo and it was a sublime experience.

Taj Lake Palace is one of my favorites in the entire world. From the moment one arrives - it's pure magic. Much of the staff has been there 15 plus years - and their level of care and service is superb. Just one issue - synthetic smell in rooms that they tried to neutralize but unsuccessful.

The best hotel ever!

Taj Palace is definitely a good place to visit to enjoy the view and also see the old palace. However, the stay at the hotel is a shear waste unless you are looking for old rooms with old beds and bathrooms. The hotel has upgraded all the lights to LED to save power, but did not spend a dime on upgrading the bathrooms which are very old. They are in no way antique because guest rooms were constructed by Taj. So upgrading them won't make a difference.
As expected the prices at the restaurant were 10x. But what surprised me was that they were serving a beer cost $1 at almost $6 while there in gross violation of local law.
The best way to see this place is to go for lunch or dinner. Staying at modern hotel is more preferable.

We stayed at the hotel for one night and checked in late, just after 7pm, so our time at the hotel was short, but we were impressed by the atmosphere of the hotel and the hospitality of the staff. Thank you for allowing us to take a break at the Prudential Suite after checking out before departing from Udaipur. We had a wonderful experience.Thank you.

The Taj Lake Palace is so unique and beautiful as to be magical. The staff were attentive and kind. The hotel is a jewel in the midst of Udaipur, which is a far livelier city than, say, Delhi or Agra or Jaipur.
My only complaint about the Taj Lake Palace is that there are too many birds, including pigeons, around the place. But that is a relatively minor quibble, and the Taj Lake Palace is overall a marvelous experience.

An amazing, unique property with excellent staff culminating in a perfect stay.

Imagine staying at a palace. As Americans, this is unimaginable. However, the Taj Lake gives you the full experience. The gardens, the flute, the palm reader, the dancers, the history tour, and then you have the awestruck level of food. This is the MUST STAY destination of our 20 day tour.

For a historical place of this calibre , I feel that Taj has not been up to the standard. (1) Staff was not as sharp as they used to be. Some would give you the blank stare as their English was very poor (2) The pool area was covered in pigeon excrements, and the cleaner was simply smearing it all over instead of actually cleaning (3) Rooms had bins with visible black plastic bag linings (4) They served frozen fish at their restaurants. It’s still a great experience overall , but for the price you pay - I expect a higher standard.

The Lake Palace is an iconic property and was on my "bucket" list and a self-gift for turning 60. A childhood dream to stay here.
Accordingly, I was a little saddened by the fact that when I mentioned to the night manager that the rate I had paid on Expedia (for a garden facing room) was a lot more than was being currently advertised in India for a lake facing room, he said he would see what he could do about it, and then showed me into a lake facing room -- omitting to mention, however, that it was for a disabled customer. As you can imagine, being faced with images of how my life will look in another 15 - 20 years was quite unsettling. The next day I was moved into a another (lovely) room with a terrace (with people, oddly, continuing to apologize for the fact that I needed to climb stairs to get to it -- I guess "grey hair" is tantamount to wheelchair in some people's minds).
The Jiva Spa was a big disappointment. I had a manicure (that took 2 hours!!!), a pedicure (where after 75 minutes she had not been able to get to nail painting), and a facial (where they did no steam/ extractions, informing me that this was a "normal" facial). Truly disappointing after the excellent facial I had received at the Taj Aguada in December, As an expert on branding, I strongly recommend that the Taj look into ensuring uniform high quality at the Jiva spa.
The service all throughout was exceptional, from the boat boy, to the durbaan, to the bar tender, to the reception staff.

A truly amazing experience. The staff is exceptional and really make the stay memorable. Harsh was responsible for our checkin and helped us out a lot. He represented the spirit really well. We had two rooms, 246 and 247. I would say even though we paid the same price there was a significant difference. If you can avoid 246, please do. The bathroom in 246 needed maintenance and was not up to the Taj Standard. I would go again as long as they fix the sink and back splash in room 246.

The lack palace is unique only for its palace and the spectacular views around it . The facility charges so much per night but there is no complimentary services to match it . Everything costs money here .

What an incredible place. The history behind it is deep, the palace itself an icon you can't take your eyes off.
For such a historic hotel its been maintained incredibly well and properly appointed. They've incorporated conveniences without losing the charm.
Better book the spa as soon as you arrive as it is super popular so they are always busy. I wish i'd had a chance to use their spa boat which is floating in the lake.
Food options are aplenty with varied cuisine options in the main restuarant, Jharoka.
If Bhairo is open on the rooftop for dinner then its a must do.
Would want to come back again for sure.

This unique hotel is sumptuous, elegant and just makes you feel like everything is right. Beautiful gardens, quiet rooms, food variety in three different restaurants with impeccable service, cozy seating areas and everything that a palace can be. Wonderful stay.

We had been planning this trip for as long as I can remember. Right from school we knew Udaipur was the place for us, and Taj turned that dream into reality. The staff, the ambience, the strive for perfection..everything was absolutely impeccable. Special mention for Palak,Rajpal,Navneet,Anjali,Pradeep and Harsh. We were upgraded to the stunning Aravali Hill Suite and we couldn't have been happier.
Kudos and gratitude to Taj.

This was my 3rd stay with the Taj property hotel and the most celebrated of the 3- Umaid,Rambaugh and Taj Udaipur. Expectations were high since the 2 were exceptional. I checked in- front desk staff was cold. I came back after check-in to ask for a possible upgrade. The lady suggested she call me back. Finally, after 3 hours, I went to the front desk clerk to follow-up. Next day, I requested for packing tape and a box. I was told it would be delivered the same night. No call no box. i FINALLY spoke to the Manager to expressed my frustration. This property is NOT CHEAP. It's pricey. I stayed because I expected better service. One of the restaurants air con was not functional as well. Luckily the waiter Bheem - made a difference. He made it memorable. No to Taj Lake Udaipur.

Wonderful experience. Staff were very helpful. In particular somebody in the restaurant by the name Mr Rajpal was just too good. Excellent support. Since my wife was diabetic he brought few sweet dishes just to taste which were sugar free and in the morning my wife did not want to have breakfast, so he filled up a bag with the breakfast for her to have it later on. A small gesture but goes miles.

Overrated. First the property itself is very small with nothing but a small courtyard and a small lookout (on 2nd floor) to hang out in. Gets extremely noisy both in the mornings and evenings and you even hear it in your room. Rooms and beds are small and Bathrooms are tiny compared to what other hotels in the same league offer. The pool was non-operational the entire time we were there. And finally while the good hotels on shore offered transport to nearby City Palace which is an uphill walk otherwise, Lake Palace offered nothing. Plus the staff on shore are very passive and hardly seem to care about what the guests need.
There were some good parts. Food in the restaurants was good and restaurant staff very courteous. Some nice evening performances by local artists and prompt boat service to the shore.
Overall I would recommend on on-shore hotel like the Oberoi Udai Villas based on this experience and having been at the Oberoi in other Rajasthsn locations.

This hotel is build on an island and a boat takes you from land to the hotel. It is build in 17’s by kings so it’s royal and full of Indian culture.

We were extremely disappointed with the lake palace. It felt tired and run down, like it had not been refurbished since it was opened. The hotel felt empty and had no atmosphere, which I am now guessing is due to exorbitant rates and dated feel. We were consistently discouraged from eating out of the hotel also, as they said they would not recommend any restaurants in Udaipur. As Udaipur was voted Conde Nast Traveller India's most popular travel destination in 2019 I find that very hard to believe. They just wanted us to spend our money in their eye wateringly expensive restaurants.
To be fair though, the service was incredibly good and the staff were very courteous and friendly. However at nearly £3,000 for two nights we were extremely disappointed. Go to the Oberoi instead. It's less expensive and far more fabulous.
