Attended my first Drake Relays. Drove 6.5 hrs up as media knowing it could all be tornadoed out. I actually liked the location. This hotel is in an industrial part of West Des Moines behind some other hotels. It's right off a couple interstates and within walking distance to McDonalds, Taco John's, and others. No time to drive due to said tornadoes! First impression was okay, both of facility and room. Quite small room, no table to work on computer so I parked it underneath the TV. Always felt safe, easy access, clean facility. Good-working TV, which seems to be rarer and rarer these days with streaming. Big shoutout to local news station weather guys...even saw my street on the tornado warning as the sirens were going off. By the way, I stayed in my room but later saw everyone downstairs. Had I been worried, I would have felt safe in stairwell. My one complaint: not sure its an interstate behind the place but a highway with lots of traffic literally a stone's throw away. It was pretty loud throughout the night.

My wife and I love this hotel.! Sam, the guy at the front desk is so nice and helpfull. I really love have the house keeper don’t bother you, and they don’t try to come in to your room after refusing service. Hands down the best motel we’ve stayed at.

This is a run down, stinky, musty, old hotel. I’m not sure when they did remodel, but it hasn’t been within the last 20 years. Entrances, lobby and hallways very dirty.

Noisey, Rude staff, Animal life in the walls

Probably one of the smallest hotel rooms i've ever had. Very basic amenities with vending machines and coffee in the lobby. They dont lock their side doors which made up our minds against staying there ever again.

Great price for quick 6 hour sleep. No extra charge for puppy. Front desk friendly.

It was clean, a lot nicer than the North Des Moines one. Housekeeping doesn’t bug you when you want to sleep longer. The beds were super comfortable just wish we got the first floor because people were smoking on the third but can’t control what everyone does. It’s super close to the store and places to eat are near by as well.

The room was very clean, and nice. Very simple design, all of the outlets worked, new bed.
