Cute Seaside Motel. You can see the ocean from the windows, and hear the waves crashing on the shore. Clean comfortable accommodations.

A nice inexpensive motel right on the coast. Easy to walk to good dining options. The Coast Trail that starts right there at the motel, is very beautiful.

This is an amazing location and I highly recommend it! It has wonderful views and the rooms are so cute😊. Jade, the Manager, is totally awesome and we loved talking to her. Her food recommendations to both Vue Kitchen and 2fish bakery were spot-on and we highly recommend both places. Surf Inn is an excellent location to spend the night.

The inn was clean and centrally located. It was clean and comfortable. We were not looking for a fancy stay and this suited us well. I love that it is family-owned. That warmth was shown by the check in host as well as the instructions for making our stay the best possible. We will be back!
Gualala is a charming town and the inn was in a perfect location to walk along the Gualala Bluff Trail, to restaurants, coffee shops, grocery stores and our favorite gift shop, “Bodega Sport and Tackle”.

Excellent location. There is a area with chairs with an incredible view, where you can hang out and watch the sunset.
The room is perfect for a place to land after a day hiking.
The Surf Market next door has everything you could ever need. It is a very gourmet market but not stuffy. The BBQ tent has great ribs and smoked meat.

Our room had quite a few maintenance needs. All the fixtures in the tub/shower required attention. stepping on the floor of the tub you could feel the dry rot underneath. Exhaust fan did not work. The imitation fireplace fan was wretchedly loud.

This is an older, small, locally managed property that for decades has been integral to Gualala and the Mendonoma Coast community. It is neat, clean, and comfortable. It overlooks the ocean along the Gualala River Estuary Bluff Trail with mesmerizing views. Jade, the manager, is warmly welcoming, eager to provide personalized service and information for locals and tourists.

Lovely small motel in a unique town on the coast. Front desk staff super personable and helpful. Great view of the ocean from our room. Nice bluff walkjng trail with view to hundreds of brown pelicans. Not much choice in tjis town but glad we chose this motel!

Great location--within walking distance of multiple restaurants and markets. Very close to the trail along the bluff, which was much nicer to walk on than the road. Friendly staff, great views of the river and the ocean, and lots of pelicans!!!

We had a lovely three night stay with our small dog at the Surf Inn in August. The motel is close to everything, and the Bluff Trail is at the end of the parking lot. Breakfast at Trink's Cafe is a short walk on the trail. The staff are friendly and helpful, and even brought treats for our dog. One thing to note, if you haven't travelled much since the pandemic, many places, including the Inn, no longer provide utensils, plates, napkins, cooking pots, or dishwashing liquid. The Surf Inn does provide a coffee maker and supplies in the room. Would definitely stay there again next time we're in the area.

We enjoyed the Surf inn very much. It is very clean, with maid service and fresh towels daily. The bed was very cozy and comfortable. A short section of the bluff trail is right behind the hotel. We enjoyed the market and the restaurants right next to the hotel. It is not fancy, but for the price, cannot be beat!

I’m struggling to write a review, because I don’t mean to be mean. The front desk person was very pleasant & helpful. The room, was mostly clean… we were put in an overflow room, so I’d imagine some things were different from a regular room? TV didn’t work well, the heat didn’t work, we weren’t sure how to work the landline until we called the after hour emergency #.. because our cellphone had no reception & we had a medical emergency. Beautiful view of the coast. I think if you are just spending a night, it’s ok? I wasn’t expecting fancy, but thought the TV and the heat would work. I do appreciate the staff for their help.

So amazing! Cozy, comfortable and absolutely scrumptious being by the ocean😍 The personnel are so lovely and friendly, like everyone we met in Gualala. The best kept secret in California! I wouldn’t want too many people finding out about this wonderful little hamlet.

Jade was such an excellent host. The property needs a bit of paint on the inside and the front door. The power wash improved the exterior. I love this little hotel.

I would plan a vacation just to go here. The inn was exceptional in cleanliness, the room had a pleasing ambiance and the grounds have seating with a view. Bonus - we were able to slow charge our vehicle overnight.
