The Fern Grotto Inn was absolutely beautiful and in the perfect location for accessing all areas of the island without making the drive too long. The River Cottage was perfect, the bed and pillows were so comfy! We were extremely happy with our stay.

Fern Grotto Inn was perfect for us! We felt like we stepped back in time away from the hustle and glitz of modernity while providing all the comforts and supplies we could want. We chose this place because of the kayaks/river, and it was a highlight of the trip! Full size fully stocked washer and dryer, snorkel masks, beach chairs, well-equipped kitchen, dreamy mangos right off the tree, friendly staff. The east side location provided easy access for a day on the north shore or heading south to Waimea canyon. Walked to Lydgate Park to watch the sunrise every morning. We would absolutely stay here again!

The room met all of our expectations and then some. We were welcomed with a treat and drinks, there were flowers everywhere and we had our own private garden area. The kitchen was equipped with everything we needed and the room was quiet and romantic. We used the kayaks and bikes provided on the property as well. It was fantastic!

Fern Grotto Inn (Coco D) was beautiful & comfortably furnished. Nice floral surprises everywhere with some yummy snacks, water & beer in the frig. Plenty of kitchen wares. There was Illy Coffee too. Our queen bed was very comfortable, although a bit high (I'm 5'6"). We were on the second floor (no elevator), which made for some nice views of the river from the kitchen/dining area. The grounds are absolutely stunning with beautiful plants & flowers everywhere. The Inn is located between Kapa'a & Lihue. Lots of things to do, restaurants & shopping nearby. You can go kayaking from the property to Fern Grotto, visit Smith's Garden & Luau (pricey, but includes a great meal & show). Need to book in advance. It's a very short drive from the Inn. Definitely do the doors off 1 hour helicopter tour of Kauai with Ali'i (expensive, but SO worth it!) from Lihue. Also, go to Allerton Garden & Estate (south) & Kilauea NWR (north). Too many things to do & so little time! We were there 4 nights. There is some road noise, even with the windows closed & there are roosters that like to crow at various times of the day or night, but there is Alexa that you can play music or white noise to offset any sounds. Paul was out of state, but we got to meet Rick. Great guy! Thanks Rick! Definitely a must stay!
