Property was beautiful and service excellent. The AC unit was old and noisy though and we couldnt control it - all done centrally.
5.0
Beautiful old house with lots of space in the premium room. Veranda has lots of space to sit and admire the views. High spec fittings and furniture. Friendly staff and easy check in.

Service was generally very good and accommodating to changes. An issue with the chef meant breakfast was not available one morning. A better option than the end of town was expected. The facility is very nice, though some rooms are small - not expected. Would definitely recommend a stay. Opt for larger rooms.

This was our second stay at The Charles Hotel. This time we stayed at the Newark Room. We loved the heated bathroom floors, cozy layout, window seat and antique furniture.
The whole staff was very friendly and efficient. Both check-in and check-out were quick and easy :) Thank you, everyone, for making our stay a memorable experience! Will come back in the future.

way too overpriced for what it’s worth - their virtual assistant was nice because you can send a quick message and get a response back. the lady at the desk didn’t have the best vibe

Sooo cold.
Heater was not working properly. Had them turn the thermostat up twice - to the 80s...still cold. Floor was like an ice rink. Tried to warm up...no hot water in the morning. Couldn't even have a shower. Frigid water only.
I was told the manger would be in touch...4 days later, no word.
Should have been refunded...miserable stay.

I had reserved a room that was called a “premium room.” We checked in and were lead to a room that had a bed with very little room to move on either side of the bed…it certainly wasn’t a room that was pictured as “premium” on their website. When I asked the front desk about it, I was told “premium rooms” have different sizes and are called “premium” bc they have access outside. Fortunately there was a larger premium room available and it was beautiful. Lots of charm and character.
The location of the hotel is perfect. Walking distance to everything. It’s a great town. Very relaxing. We did not go to the Hob Nob restaurant but we did go to the less formal pub style restaurant. That was very relaxing and fun.
Overall, staff was not the most pleasant, but not to the point where it affected our stay. We would definitely return to this property.

It is within walking distance to downtown!
However, besides that the property is tired and needs to be refreshed on the outside.
There was no way to adjust the heat in the room and the TV had some issues.
For the $$ there are better options.

Nice location!

Very friendly staff and great service. I wish they had an outdoor heater for sitting outside. The property does show its age but at the same time adds to its overall charm. A nice place to stay.

Our stay was wonderful. The hotel was close to everything and we had a great time. We walked around town, and even rented bikes. The food in both the dining room and the pub was a bit overpriced - so we searched out lower cost meals, but other than that, all was good. We will come back for sure.

The Charles Hotel was Ok but not great. Our room on the ground floor was very noisy. Decor is quaint and bathroom very dark. Service was great especially from Anna.

The friendliness & helpfulness of staff was outstanding!!
Bed was too firm and very uncomfortable. TV did not work, but, hey, who wants a TV in such a beautiful area.
Food was excellent!!
Overall, a very good rating but be certain to check hot water before showering. Especially in Room 105. A a hot pot of tea furnished in mid afternoon fit perfectly!!
All in all, quite fun.

Absolutely loved the Charles Inn! The room was so pretty and when we arrived they had beautiful jazz music playing in our room. Bed was very comfortable and the shower was amazing. It is a great location in the heart of NOTL close to everything. When we checked in we were given fresh chocolate chip cookies which were delicious. We will definitely stay here again! Thank you!
2.0
The location -- walking distance to all points of interest in the historic district of NOTL -- led us to book here (a first time at this property). It's a photogenic property and the grounds and dining room/breakfast room are quite attractive. We were there two nights ... the first night featuring a 12:30 fire alarm that went unexplained or not resulting in an 'all clear' Also, the HVAC system that could only be adjusted by a staff person. We were uncomfortably cold. The TV provided was about the size of a large laptop screen and the screen's low resolution/contrast made it difficult to read the scores etc. from the Ryder Cup. The room rates were higher than the experience warranted.
4.0
The room was small but comfortable and I especially liked the heated bathroom floor. Unexpected extras like the small fridge and iron and ironing board and bath robes. It would have been nice to control the temperature of the room ourselves plus, the temp display as well as other lights, brightened the room. If you need darkness for sleep, this is not the room for you. The charm is in the age of the building and the beautiful surroundings. Very peaceful!

This is a very unique property with a lot of history. The staff were friendly and helpful. Such a great location, we walked everywhere. Would definitely stay here again!
4.0
A great property except . . .a) room temperature required a call to the front desk to change and b) for older people (not with a physical handicap) like us using the tub/shower felt awkward and unsafe.
Everything else was a full 10/10

Beautiful, charming, convenient, welcoming, comfortable… wish we could have stayed longer.
2.0
Premier Room had a double bed with tiny area to walk around, not enough room to place suitcase on. No coffee in room, towels like sandpaper, soap tiny and thin, room unable to adjust heat, even after requesting, TV problems. Certainly the amenities of a Motel 6. The grounds are beautiful, room clean. Staff unfriendly. Close walking distance to downtown which is great.

Anna was efficient and personable at breakfast.
4.0
The staff was very helpful/friendly, location was perfect, the property needs upgrading: more outlets in the bedrooms(my husband was charging phone in bathroom etc.), the furniture in the outdoor space on the 2nd floor was minimal and uncomfortable, overall a painting facelift.

The Charles Hotel is a quaint property. It does have its quirks however. We booked a “basic room” and it was quite basic. The shower was not exactly hot and the a/c was freezing. For some reason, you have to request the remote to the AC, but we certainly turned it down, not up. The bed was not that comfy. The staff was a definite highlight, excellent people working here!!
For the price, I would think it would include the breakfast. I think in the future, we would most likely book a different property to compare it against this experience. We recognize this is a village of older hotels and BnBs so understand that there are unique challenges for the hoteliers in this regard. We loved our time in Niagara on the Lake to be certain and plan to return.

The Charles is a beautiful hotel in a delightful garden setting. Our room was comfortably furnished, with ample seating, a fireplace, a large terrace, and great shower! A short walk to theater and shops. A very special place.

Very cute historic place. Could use some updating (ie carpets in the suites). Overall, nice place to spend a visit.

Stay 2 nights, Room was very small and constant sound of an air mover all night, can't control AC. asked to change rooms and they were not full by any means but the person I spoke to declined and said because we booked online he could not do anything. Was not impressed, Poor excuse apparently if you book online you get the worst room in the whole place.

historic property on the edge of a golf course and minutes walk to downtown and festival. onsite restaurant is excellent.

It was convenient to the town center where there were shops and restaurants.
We had an excellent meal in the hotel’s restaurant.
