The office manager was very friendly and helpful, especially in offering a really good breakfast.

This property is so disgusting, dirty and smelled sooooooo bad. Mold in bathroom, the whole room was dirty, hair, moldy and the bed was the worst we ever slept on in our lives and we are not picky, it was so bad I lifted the sheets to see what we were laying on and the very very old cheap mattress was disgusting with stains all over. I was scared of bed bugs but didn’t get bit up surprisingly!!! The continental breakfast is such a joke, there was NOTHING and what they had poptarts and cereal boxes were old and stale. Absolutely, not worth the price. We would not stay here again if they paid us to. We stay in Grand Marais or the surrounding area every fall. Advice… pay the extra for a clean hotel!!!!

I've stayed here several times before and enjoyed my stay but this time was different. The room was more run down, the heat was not on and it was chilly at night, the neighbors were loud and the bed and pillows were super uncomfortable and need replacing. Also the front desk staff were not very friendly or helpful. I absolutely love Grand Marais and this really is the only financially feasible lodging available in my budget range so I'm hopeful that they make some improvements so we can once again enjoy our stay with them.

The room itself was clean. The staff friendly. The breakfast area was adequate and was available all day until they closed. The heat/air conditioner unit was working minimally. Thankfully there was a large box fan to use to move the air around. The exterior was in need of repair with ripped screens, a broken door and parking and driveway in need of new surfacing. For the price that I paid I would have expected better. This place was selected because other places were already booked and I really wanted to go this weekend. I would not recommend this motel and I will not use them again.

During the heat during our stay the air conditioner was marginal.

This was not the experience I thought that I had booked. Very disappointing based on the marketing of the place. It's an old motel.

the hottub was not open, the parking lot needs work and the breakfast didn't have very many choices. Also the photo was decieving.

They did not even have cups in the rooms. Mattresses need changing out and breakfast needs a few more protein options.

This was a very dumpy place. Maybe you should send people to check it out before putting on your travel site. Pictures online misrepresented the place as with the others

When we got to our room we realized the air conditioner wasn't working. We informed the front desk and were told that they knew about it, but were j6st letting all of the rooms' air conditioning brwak down and then they would replace them all at once. We requested another room and that room's air conditioner barely worked. If it wasn't si late in the evening, we woukd have asked fir our money back and went somewhere else, but we decided to stick it out. The beds were so uncomfortable that we barely slept! The hallways smelled terrible too. The only positive thing was that the room was clean.

Ice machine and hot tub were out.

I wasn't expecting much based on reviews I read and they were right. Other local properties were booked so I took a chance. Room was basic and reasonably clean.

September 2023-- room is clean and comfortable, mattress and pillows are fine, cheaper stay with great location. The free breakfast is all prepackaged foods and works for free. I would stay again without question. If you need a better quality place, you maybe stay in the room more than I do while on vacation.!

2nd stay here. Property is older but it’s comfortable and staff is very helpful.

Old rooms are worn but functional. Breakfast selection is very meager even by continental standards.

Plumbing in bad condition. Toilet fill valve slow only flush every 25 minutes. I didn’t think we had any hot water the evening we checked in but it finally got warm. Next morning no water at all. To their credit credit money refunded at checkout.

Our room was definitely dated. The carpet and chair covers were stained from previous guests (I imagine they set muddy gear on them). Everything hung on the walls was crooked, including the nightstands. The toilet does not have a standard flapper valve, and the “fancy” one it had was difficult to operate. I had to open the tank a few times to manually close the valve to get the toilet to quit running. Staff was friendly. The free breakfast consists of a minifridge full of different items, a Keurig coffee maker, and a rack of cereal cups. As the title says, this was an adequate room. We did not spend a lot of time there, and it was the cheapest available room in Grand Marais. We would book it again.

Paying for a motel stay so it’s exactly as you would expect. Room was clean, AC worked great. Some noise at night from doors slamming. Staff were super friendly and nice. The spa is broken and not accessible. All day breakfast is a great touch and location gets you into downtown Marais in about two minutes. Overall you are paying for simple and that’s what you get.

Room was clean, but our bed didn’t have a top sheet. Staff was seldom at the desk but did when called. All day breakfast was appreciated including Kerig coffee. A lot of packaged options but did have yogurt, hard boiled eggs and cheese sticks. Older hotel that needs updating but good for the price

A good clean, no-frills room for a great price. The decorating was a bit outdated but that is not as important to me as having a clean, quiet room, on this respect it gets an A . The tv had a roku or something similar, so all kinds of streaming were available. The tv remote batteries were dead but in contacting the front desk, the remedied this promptly and with a smile. I would definitely stay here again and would certainly recommend it.
