I had a beautiful stay at the Brown Street Inn. My bedroom was cute, cozy and comfortable. The Inn Keepers were welcoming and friendly... and the breakfast was the best!

My partner and I wanted a quick weekend getaway to see the Herbert Hoover NHS and hang out in the Iowa City area. This Inn was in a very cute older neighborhood with brick roads throughout, and only a 5 minute drive from the downtown area.
We were greeted by name by the owners and showed to our room, which was as cozy as it looked in the photos. The bed was incredibly comfortable, as was the temperature of the room. Despite being on vacation, I also really appreciated being able to log into our Netflix account with Roku to settle in for the night.
Breakfast was amazing, and as a person with Celiac Disease it was amazing to have an entire breakfast full of gluten free options for the two of us, and not feeling like I had to inspect my food or ask to be absolutely sure it was safe, a rarity with a serious dietary restriction. Sitting on the porch in the early morning to enjoy the homemade foods and relax was the perfect way to wrap up our overnight stay.
Could not recommend this property and the owners more. We loved our stay and would be more than happy to return in the future.

The bedroom was very comfortable. The breakfast was scrumptious! The hosts were so lovely! Their home was beautiful and all the art on the walls was so enjoyable.

The owners were very friendly and helpful. I called because I was coming in later than planned. It was no problem for Mark. He gave me a map of the area which really helped. I grew up with farm cats. I liked their outdoor cat. My room was clean, the bed very comfortable. The gluten-free and lactose-free breakfast was delicious, The scrambled eggs, toast, fresh fruit, orange juice, and "milk" gave me a great start to my day. Conversation with other guests around the table was an added bonus.

The hosts were so charming and welcoming and they maintain a beautiful inn—the breakfasts were delicious, cookies were a lovely touch and we really enjoyed sitting on the patio and looking at the beautiful historic neighborhood. The inn was located very near downtown and the university—we walked to lunch and dinner each day. And the bed was wonderfully comfortable! We will absolutely return!

What a great house with great hosts! In addition to a beautiful, quiet room, we were served a breakfast that would cost $20 elsewhere included with the price.

Mark and Bob were exceptional in every way!!!! They could not have been more kind or accommodating. If you are looking for an experience where you will truly feel at home, this is your place. The setting is peaceful and charming in every way. Thank you both for a perfect stay!

We just stopped for one night to split up a long road trip and it couldn’t have been more perfect. The place was beautiful, the room was comfy. The owners were out of town and we had Michelle as our ‘interim innkeeper’ and she was so welcoming and helpful. The location was great. Beautiful neighborhood and was easy to find some great restaurants and shops. The continental breakfast was a great start to our morning (especially the apple muffins, thanks Michelle!:) We would definitely stay again and would highly recommend.

Well, now I get it! It was absolutely spot-on in every way -- lovely hosts, spotlessly clean, comfortable, pretty, walkable to the downtown area, nice and quiet neighborhood, perfectly-appointed breakfast, little "extra" touches, and on and on.

This bed and breakfast is tastefully decorated with beautiful art work. The living room is cozy with a fire place, soothing music playing and there are newspapers to choose from to read. Each room is inviting with their own bathroom with plush towels and robes. In the afternoon fresh homemade cookies are put out. The breakfast is yummy and I appreciated the attention to detail. Fresh fruit was always available. There were nice touches like a place to make your own tea and coffee as well as wine openers with wine glasses available. It is a place to return to when one has a chance.
