This place needs to be condemned. It’s dirty extremely small. We had hair in the tub, limited hot water, toilet did not like to flush. Old radiators are exposed and dirty. Had a ceiling fan with no blades or lights. Expedia totally left us down on this recommendation. No one is on site to help you out and when you call the number to address issues his comment is no refund. Stay away from this place.

The hotel needed major upgrades. Our room smelled like oil, even our clothes smelled like oil when we got home. It was a great location however considering the condition of the hotel and the smell was very disappointing for the price. We will never stay at this hotel again. We where very disappointed in the cancellation policy. We might not even use hotels.com again due to this reason.

The no contract entry was very convenient. The room was very clean and the beds were very comfortable. Motel was within walking distance of shops, restaurants and Lake Superior. Could use updating, but that would not keep us from staying at Harbor View in the future.

Pros: Customer service on the phone was great, and I was accommodated for an early check-in. It felt reasonably clean. And the view of the harbor can't be matched. However the vibe was that of a road side motel and not somewhere you'll want to spend any time in except to shower and sleep. The self check-in was a bit odd; the key was left in the door which seemed a bit unsecured. Overall it's fine without many other options in the area other than resorts.

This hotel needs a renovation!!

No desk for registrating, no desk to get a key, no key in door to get in. Had to find other arrangements because our room wasn't accessable. Very frustrating

this property does not fit the grand marais area. plae needs renovation done so people all around can come and respect this beautiful area

138' to coffee in am. Less than 5 minutes to eating and drinking last night, and the beach was across the street.

Hotel was clean and neat. Beds were good. No microwave. Good location.

The bathroom did not meet my expectations. There was no hot water at the sink and the shower only had intermittent hot water. The bathroom was also really tiny. It had been refreshed, but was old fashioned. I won’t go back.

We loved being right across the street from the lake and beach! Also, we were able to easily walk anywhere from the Harbor Inn (including to buy ice since there none on the premises). The room was very clean and pleasant, with an updated bathroom. There is a small refrigerator but no microwave. Overall, great value for the price!

There isn’t a front desk to check you in-the key was in the door. The room is neat and clean. The building if kind of run down. The location is great-right in the middle of town and walkable to the break wall for sunset.

The hotel looked nothing like pictures on internet. Dirty stained carpet, dark and dingy, nothing on the walls but mollys where picture’s did hang. Had to squeeze between the tub and stool in bathroom to close door. A ceiling fan once hung, the blades were missing. When we left , not staying second night, manager said I reserved a standard room.. No sub standard! My granddaughter deserved better, at 200.00 a night that room didn’t even come close!

Very convenient location and pretty setting on the water. No ice machine. Landscaping could be improved. No personnel on property.

The rooms were clean, the check in was easy, and the bed was very comfortable. The bed was actually the high point. We had issues with climbing stairs to reach the room, as we are both in our 70's. The bathroom was extremely small. The water pressure was so low a shower was impossible, also flushing the toilet was a process.

This place needs lots of attention. The building is in fair condition, the rooms were no better. High priced due to its location across from the bay.

Harbor Inn is an older building that is showing its age. Generally, the interior was fine, clean and comfortable. Somethings had been updated. The bathroom was OK but there were stains in the tub which appeared to be from a former tub mat. The exterior was dirty. The white cinder blocks in the exterior hallway needed a good washing or at least a different color paint to make the inevitable dust less noticeable. The doors to the rooms should be updated to stronger, steel fire doors. I think they were hollow-core! Grand Marais is a safe city, but stronger, more modern doors seem necessary these days. The location was excellent, in town and close to the water. The rate seemed high for the quality of the hotel. Perhaps, the location justified that.

Everything was lovely, including the restaurant. I was concerned about safety if the bath tub. To high to lift legs over getting in and out. Rounded bottom was not safe for standing.

Room had terrible smell that did not go away

There was an over powering smell when we walked in. They had an air purifier to try and cover up whatever the smell was coming from. We had the window open to let fresh air in but it was still really strong. I would have tried to stay elsewhere but there was no availability and I already paid $250 for one night. I'm usually not picky but it just seemed really rundown especially for what we paid.

I stayed here with my sisters and I have to admit that I was little afraid to look inside but we were all pleasantly surprised. The king size beds are so comfortable and we loved the layout of the beds in the room. The location is absolutely perfect, the owners were very pleasant to deal with and I can’t wait to return to the Harbor Inn in Grand Marais.

We didn’t care for the no host model of self check in. No host present seemed odd, so no one to answer questions or offer suggestions about things to do or where to eat. The room had been upgraded, but no microwave and no table and only one comfortable chair. The mini frig sits on the floor, not exactly handy. It was, however, clean and tidy.

Was a very minimal place. Tv did work. Hot water was hard to come by. Bathroom sink faucet would hardly work.

Bathroom tile was falling of the wall. Room had a strange smell. Hallways were terrible
