I stayed at this hotel for the great north run and it worked pretty well, easy access to the metro station that takes you to central Newcastle, got a bus back from South Shields. The metro will get packed very soon so it's better to stay in Sunderland than somewhere in the middle. The room soundproof is pretty good, Sunderland was playing in the stadion the night before, and that wasn't a problem.
