This is a large and Cabin in a natural habitat so those who want to stay here typically would have different standards than someone who wanted to stay in a tradition. I do both. For this type of experience I’m really enjoyed the atmosphere and the host and all the wildlife and hiking and peace so I highly enjoyed it and recommend it.

The road in was atrocious, requiring high clearance (really- owner can give you a lift) BUT if you want superb jungle solitude with great food, this is it. Rustic, yes, but all you need is here. No AC, but it’s cool after dark and you can hear the jungle in all its glory. Super cool platform in a giant ceiba tree a must view (about 85 feet high). Cabins well constructed with nice beds/mosquito nets though, again, rustic. Howler monkeys galore, dense jungle canopy.

We ended up extending an extra night we loved it so much. Definitely recommend the night hike. Be warned- it is remote so only the on site restaurant (carrot soup was amazing) and sometimes limited water. Only accessible by 4x4 but easy to organize a ride with the lodge. Waking up to howler monkeys above your casita it totally amazing.

Staying at Mombacho Lodge was an incredible experience. I got the opportunity to stay in the park. There were howler monkeys, a sloth, butrerfliesand beautiful plants and trees all around me. Big groups of howler monkeys came through the property twice each day.
