The hotel was clean but the problem started with the check-in process. The kiosk is not the answer. Next the door does not latch without applying extreme force which may be a result of the humidity level in the room. The ac works but there was a cool mist in the room. Finally don't do the deposit with a credit card it's been 5 business days and I still have not seen my refund.

The odor in the room was overpowering. Smelled like a combination of mold/mildew and industrial-strength neutralizer. Had to keep the window open (it was in the 90s) and bring in multiple air fresheners just to make it tolerable. Everything else was fine and as expected. The common areas were pleasant and did not have an odor. Maybe it was just our room. (We were there over family weekend at the near by university and the name brand hotels didn’t have any vacancies.)

Having to check in with this Kiotel machine, Whatever happens to face- to- face in person/human contact. For the room we booked we were seeing the window facing the back staircase while under- construction and the parking lot torn up and such. We understand that you are remodeling or trying to update some interior design,finish the and clean it up. Don't leave them undone,it looks tacky and uninviting.

STAY AWAY! When I pulled up to the place it looked deserted. I went into the building to check in and it was like a scene off a movie from 1970s scary movie. There were multiple bug traps hanging from the ceiling and no one was at the desk to greet us. There was a telephone to call. I instantly asked for a refund and walked out. They later lied and said they never spoke with me. VERY UNPROFESSIONAL and I can bet had I stayed I would've brought home unwanted pets! Not worth your money.

Hotel is dirty and poorly maintained. Bathroom door would not close completely because of prior water damage to frame that was never repaired. And the “free breakfast” offered your choice of crunch berries or wheat toast, nothing else. Absolutely would not stay there again.

The breakfast is nice and delicious, easy check in and the room is clean.

I booked for a room this weekend and i check in the exact room i booked for, the staffs are friendly and the bathroom is nice and clean.

I love the location it is convenient safe and quiet and the staffs are friendly.

This was a rough stay. Checked in around 11pm and they sent us to a room that there were people in. I opened the door and saw suitcases and piles of clothes. The lights were out but TV on. I quickly closed the door. When I told staff at the front desk they asked me if the people were scared or said anything. I don’t know. I didn’t stick around to chat!! She sent us to a new room and it was unoccupied. The room had been remodeled but was dirty. The floors were dirty in the bathroom. There was a dirty washcloth hanging over the shower bar. There were two spots of hair on the shower wall. I worries our car might get broken into as there were people just walking around at night. Beds were comfy. One sheet had what seemed to maybe be a paw print of dirt on it. We’ve wondered what this hotel might be like each time we have come to Carbondale. Now we know. We wouldn’t stay here again.

We booked 1 day over the weekend. There was not many room occupied at this time, and even though we got not nice room at all! The lack wasn’t working at all, everybody could just get in, tha bathtub didn’t look clean, it was a yellow stain ar the bottom , same as a sink, the toilet needed to be flushed twice or three time, due to was backing up. The view outside was terrible…I wouldn’t complain at all if I wouldn’t have a feeling we have gotten the worst room they had. Since There were not many room occupied, why they just didn’t care? We didn’t want to complain at the place, because it was late and we were tired, but this hotel overall has standard of the cheap motel for much higher price.I believe they supposed put some more effort to satisfy the customer since there were not many customers at all. Not recommend.

Service was friendly. The facility is very nice and inviting. They are very accommodating with requests. They allow pets at a reasonable rate. I’m happy with our stay!

If you like old, dirty hotels that make your skin crawl and don't mind being kept awake all night by people partying out in the parking lot with their music so loud it rattles your bed, and if your not worried about your vehicle being damaged, broken into, or stolen, and if the possibility of being hit by a stray bullet excites you...then this might be the place for you! Seriously, this place is awful. Management claims to have a quiet policy from 9pm to 7am, but they did absolutely nothing about the people partying, fighting and blasting their car stereos in the parking lot until 3am! They claim the police won't do anything. Did I mention it is connected to a night club? This is definitely not a place to bring your family! If you're looking for drugs or prostitutes, you may be in luck... If not, stay far, far away. You've been warned!!

There was no garbage can in our room. No elevators to 2nd floor. They changed the key Codes on your everyday @ 11AM, even if you had a 2 day stay. No towel bars in the bathroom. Not enough electrical outlets in the room. Unable to plug light on desk. Not enough light in the room

I stayed here a year ago while they were under construction. This year it seems like most of the construction is complete. My room reeked of cigarette smoke and the window was left open to air it out. I didn't;t request a room change because the hotel was supposed to be full. Basic accommodations and no extra accessible outlets for my phone to charge especially near the night stand. No hair dryer in the room to use in the morning. Breakfast area was closed by 8:45am on Saturday.

I didn't like the fact that I was given a used room upon check in and the staff questioned me about if I messed up the room and I only went in for less than a minute. They were confused and rude!!! They stood there arguing with each other in their language about the dirty room. Then asked me IF I WANTED CLEAN SHEETS TO CLEAN THE BED MYSELF!!!!!!!!! I WILL NEVER COME HERE AGAIN!!!

Location is good, easy to find. Rooms are basic, don't expect much for price. Check in was a mess, be sure to have confirmation information and maybe call ahead to make sure they actually have a room. You have to reactivate room keys each day if you stay multiple days. Mold in the bathrooms, but otherwise seemed clean. Breakfast is slim pickings of cold cereal or a bagel. No hair dryer in room, some had a microwave, mine had a small fridge only. Beds are ok.

I left as soon as I saw the room! There was spiders in my room. The mattress of the bed looked like it came out of a dumpster. The refrigerator was rusty and gross

By far, this was the most affordable hotel for our weekend in Carbondale, IL, at roughly 2/3 the price of the next cheapest. University Inn was refurbished from (we think Ramada) a shuttered hotel, and it is a work in progress. The completed areas are spotlessly clean, probably one of the cleanest places I've stayed. Beds were very comfortable. However, being a work in progress there are issues. First, the rooms look to have been furnished from resale warehouses, the places where hotels & schools et al will unload all their old items (televisions, chairs, etc) when upgrading. This is fine, but rather than enough outlets, or a power strip, there was a mess of extension cords powering everything. Our television didn't work because it had no remotes, and when we asked they gave us one for the TV, but not for the Dish so it was still useless. Sink had hot water, but not the shower. Perhaps however the most frustrating thing was the offered free "hot breakfast", which we had factored into the cost of our trip. We expected eggs, breakfast meats, biscuits & gravy, the kinds of items pulled from a freezer, heated, and put in a warming dish. What we got barely qualified as a "continental" breakfast. Bagels, and peanut butter, but no cream cheese or jelly; packets of oatmeal with barely hot water, and pop-tarts. Not even fruit. At 8am the first day, though it ran till 9 we assumed we were too late. But at 6am the next, no hot food, not even advertised microwave sandwiches.

We got in to the room and was immediately met with the smell of nicotine, even though it’s supposedly a smoke free environment. The website advertises different food but all that was available was stale cereal and no milk. We couldn’t even get coffee because there were no cups available and the cups that they did have stuck together and looked dirty :(

This property is next to a nightclub and when we parked at hotel the overflow parking for nightclub was very concerning. We sat in our car for 30 minutes while a drunk guy driving pulled up to puke and another car was just sitting there…and two girls got out and actually fist fought

Excellent choice! Clean and the staff was friendly. Will definatly stay here everytime i'm in Town
