Cambridge, Prentiss House

The location of Prentiss House was super convenient. I also liked the affordability of the rental property.

The stairs were extremely steep. I was afraid that I would fall down on them.

Another wonderful stay! I have stayed at Prentiss House many times before, and my visit this past week was just as enjoyable as the others. The historic house is nestled on a quiet residential street, yet it is highly convenient—well within walking distance of the Porter Square T station, great local restaurants, and shops. The digital keyless system worked perfectly, allowing smooth entry through both the front door and my unit door. I always look forward to returning to this location and hope to be back soon.

Room 6 had a problem with hot water in kitchen sink and bathroom sink (hot water perfectly fine in shower) Prentiss House will address for next guest.

I'll be honest: I booked the Prentiss House a bit skeptically, mostly because it was the last option left at a reasonable price. I'm so glad I did. It's a truly charming place, and I left wanting a house exactly like it. It felt homey, which is rare on a business trip. The bathroom was a highlight: beautiful tile and a retro-chic sink. I also loved how the modern touches blend in, especially the little nook with a wine cooler. The king-size bed and comfortable mattress made for great sleep. The windows and built-ins have that classic Cambridge character that makes the stay feel special.

My only hesitation was initially my room location, right next to the entrance, and I worried it would be noisy. It turned out to be very quiet. Thee street was too. I didn't have a chance to use the outdoor terrasse, it looks lovely. I enjoyed the espresso coffee in the morning, it is the extend of what I had a chance to use in the common space.

Unique, renovated home turned into a small hotel. Great ambiance.

Lousy facilities and space utilization. Start with no refrigerator The closet has room for one, but instead has a stand up fan, a space heater and an ironing board. I was traveling with food and brought back leftover food from dinner. To prevent it from spoiling I had to put the food in the bathroom sink and keep adding ice. The fact that the ice machine is in the basement of another building made this whole thing a royal pain in the ass. To put this in perspective Comfort Inn and Motel 6 have refrigerators in each room. Second, the shower is minuscule and took over 5 minutes to heat up, still not reaching the temperature level of the sink and tub. The sink has no counter. Lastly, a 10:00am checkout time?!?! In 30 years of traveling I have never seen one that early. In summary, Prentiss House is the hotel benchmark of form over function.
