La Terrasse - Hôtel Restaurant à Vézelay

This accommodation is in an older building with lots of charm. The rooms a bewitched upgraded, comfortable and mine included a bathtub--a wonderful benefit when traveling. The hotel is right in front of the basilica. The staff are kind and very helpful--they arranged a taxi for me from and back to the train station in Sermizelles. This was so helpful as public transportation in the area is quite limited. Even taking the bus back to the Sermizelles train station requires a reservation to be made prior to 5 pm on the day before travel. The restaurant in the hotel has excellent food. I had both dinner and lunch and greatly enjoyed both. I don't think you can do better elsewhere in Vézelay.

While I loved the room and there were dark curtains to block out light, the windows weren't fully covered so there was light coming in making it a little harder to sleep. My room was right on the square so there was noise in the early evening.

Really beautiful place. The owner was brilliant. Rooms clean and functional. The restaurant was fantastic. The location and the town was awesome.

Close to the basilica which we were visiting

Lack of air conditioning in the premises
