Sokcho & Guesthouse

Great location and super easy to get around. Lovely host and a great vibe.

-Breakfast included (but I skipped most times due to waking early to climb) -Owner is nice and gives great info -Sokcho is nice -Shower is good and beds too -easy to get around

-No curtain on the 4 bed shared room I was in (prob easy to install and will go a long way) -booked on weekend

The owner (Judith) was very knowledgeable about the area, including hiking the nearby mountain, things to do with or without kids, ways to get around, etc. Very helpful and kind. She speaks Korean, English, Chinese, and I think Indonesian. Anyway, it is a lot of languages! Place is super clean and spotless. Very friendly vibe so other travelers hung out in the main area and chatted, but still a very quiet place. Very close to the famous local market. The guesthouse is about a 15 minute walk from 1 of the bus stations. There are 2 stations coming into the city, so be careful which one you book if coming by bus. Close to the regular buses to get wherever you want to go in the area. For my American/European friends, they use Korean towels - the size of our hand towels.The shower is attached to the sink - like in many Korean guesthouses. Bed was med firm and comfy. The coffee is especially good! A washing machine is available for a fee. One of my favorite places in five years of full time travel because of Judith! Highly recommend.

Nothing I didn't like, but something to be aware of - Booking says there is a view of the sea, but you need to go to one of the upper floors to get a view. Other than that, everything is fine.
