it was unusual. the staff were very accommodating and friendly and the food was great. It is right on the water which is great too and close to all the sights and shops.
No net curtain, if you drew the curtains everyone could see straight into the room, so you need to keep the curtains closed at all times.
no place to hang towels in bathroom.

The rooms are amazing. Extremely spacious. Each room is different. Furnished tastefully with unique antique furniture.. The bathrooms are spotlessly clean with high quality fittings and beds are very comfortable. Waterfront location is picturesque. Restaurant is good. Guest service was excellent.
In the evening after 7 pm the local area closes down and streets are deserted. There are few if any choices for alternative dining.

Allen Frances was a fantastic support. My wife and son had gotten unwell and he went out of his way to ensure everything was going ok. Great location as well, friendly staff in general

The location of the restaraunt is picturesque. They are happy to serve items not listed on the menu with a smile. Majnu the proprietor makes conversation with the guest which is good

The Ginger House is a gem in a great location for exploring Jew Town. Amazing building and only 8 rooms - huge and decorated with antiques. Luxurious bathroom with hi tech smart toilet! The restaurant by the side of the water is one of the best places to eat in Cochi.
The pool was out of order but didn’t bother us

We booked the Royal suite, we've read a lot about this hotel and wanted to love it. We've stayed at a few heritage properties including the blue mansion in Malaysia, and we certainly appreciated the passion that the owner has for antiques
However, for such an expensive suite, the experience was lacking for us. For example, when we arrived, we weren't greeted with a drink in spite of flying and driving for some time from Delhi to get here.
There is no lobby just a desk and 2 chairs, in spite of the descriptions of a huge lobby with an original and enormous snake boat gracing the centre, well this room was unused and closed to guests.
We arrived quite late in the evening after long day of travelling so went to the outdoor restaurant to get some drinks and dinner, service in the restuarant is very slow, albeit friendly.
The room is of course grand, but it lacks a feminine touch, the bed was big and needed a carpet underneath, in fact I fell off the bed in the night onto a a very hard floor. The chair and tables needed a carpet also.
The bathroom was very nice, especially the gold detailing, however I would have preferred more soft furnishings in the room for comfort and more 5* service for the price paid.
Breakfast was delicious, again very slow.
No indoor seating at the restuarant, use insect repellant
As much as we wanted to love this place, it wasn't what we hoped.

Amazing rooms, with incredible views, furniture and decor. Top amenities and features. Great location and attentive staff. Discreet entrance but once inside you realize what a gem of a place it is.

The location of the property is the first thing that is wonderful about it. The second is the building and the way it is furnished. It is like you are stepping back into another era with all of the antiques and the style in which it is decorated. The third, and most important aspect of why we feel it is so great is due to the staff - from the owner down to the cleaners. All were very helpful and communicative. It was very well done.
I am not really sure what could have been better. The door lock (a padlock from 1850) was a bit cumbersome, but it added to the atmosphere of the place. If there was one thing that I would say could be improved is that there is a small part of the shoreline in front of the restaurant that could be cleaned up. That was it - nothing else.

Beautiful hotel with creative artwork constructed out of antiques. Example: a colorful collection of hand water pumps. Lovely view of the river and bay. Very helpful staff.
The restaurant was boring. While it has a lovely view, the food at lunch and dinner was only "ok" (breakfasts were fine). We have had much better meals elsewhere in Kerala. Maybe the restaurant can up their game?

The room was bigger than I imagined.. Look like a palace room with high ceilings.. Comfy bed. I love the bathroom. Excellent service. Restaurant with a great view of the harbour.. tasty food. Enjoyed swimming in the pool..
The car parking area is a little bit annoying .. You have to park one behind one. You have to remove all the cars to take any car ..
The room was so comfortable .. but I felt a little scared of watching a lot of wall pictures at night

Ginger House was simply stunning! The attention to detail in design, furnishing, decor and all things visual was beyond perfect. Staff and owner were very hospitable and caring and service was great. Loved the food, breakfast was authentic Indian and everything came in plenty. Could not fault the place and the people - thank you so much for a beautiful stay!

Fabulous decor, nice pool, great views from the restaurant, good food, and fantastic service. The location in the heart of the Jewish quarter (Jewtown) is the icing.
We got the Royal Room, the interior is lush with antiques, exquisite ceilings, door and window fittings. The staff are very efficient. The antique gallery on the ground floor (45 rooms) is a must for antique and heritage lovers.
There is nothing to complain about. Great value for money.

It was a very unique place to stay. The rooms were beautiful! The staff was so friendly and the location great for some shopping and site seeing.

The staff and service was exceptional. We had a gorgeous room and breakfast was included which was a great bonus. The restaurant is outside and has a nice view of the water. It has a set menu but there was plenty of food. The hotel was very kind to let us have a late checkout as our flight did not leave until the evening. Location to Jew Town was perfect. I highly recommend staying at the Ginger House.
The only improvement I can think of is the towels are rough and need to be replaced.

Staying at the hotel was an extraordinary experience. We had the Presidential suite which was an enormous palatial space with immaculate furniture and a bathroom fitted with gold plated pieces.
We found the staff to be attentive, polite and kind. Special thanks to the hotel manager, Allen, who went beyond the call of duty to make our stay as comfortable as possible.
The restaurant was by the waterside, and we were greeted by a lovely breeze every morning at breakfast, with fresh juice, fruits, South Indian food, bread and coffee/tea.
The owner showed us the other rooms in the hotel, each one of them were unique and ridiculously beautiful. We also got a tour of his huge antique store(s) which in itself is worth a visit to Fort Cochin.
We liked our stay so much that we extended it by a day and would love to come back and stay during our next visit.
There are a couple of things to consider, which didn't deter us much but still worth keeping in mind. The WiFi isn't great because the location is next to a naval base and signals are jammed. So if you need to work from home, this may not be a good option.
The pool is small with waist deep water. It's pretty good for kids and maybe a soak but not for swimming laps.

This is a little gem of a hotel tucked away in a corner, on the waterfront, opposite Willingdon island. The hotel is in a recently renovated ginger warehouse. The restaurant has good food and an excellent waterfront location. The staff are extremely friendly and hospitable. The hotel also houses an antique shop. The approach to the restaurant is out of the world. The owner, Mr. Majnu is extremely friendly and made sure our stay was brilliant.
The approach road is a bit narrow. Parking onsite is limited. Otherwise everything was great.

Very nice breakfast and the owners were very helpful and went above and beyond to help us. The hotel itself is beautiful, has fantastic character to it and is a very pleasant place to spend a few days.
