Nice place

The property offered an open pool and play area. The hotel was contacted prior to visit to check on services offered. They guaranteed the pool and play area would be open. We were doing a reunion with five rooms. The services offered were not available.

Service at the attached Old Chicago was awful. Staff was rude, manager was clueless. If it wasn't so cold we would have left and went elsewhere. Will not be eating there again.

Live in town. Had a 5 day weekend due to snow & cold with 3 cooped up boy kids. Needed a break from cabin fever. Best pool in town. Requested a poolside room, could see the dudes from our room window. For less than $100, we swam, played ping pong and pool, had the included breakfast buffet, and played board games in the vast, well lit and warm central space by the pool. Our boys (8, 10, and 13) swam from 1200 check in till dinner, after dinner till close at 2200, and after breakfast until 1100 check out. Showers were warm. Beds comfy. Staff hand ample quarters on hand for exchange for the arcade and “Always a winner,” pool-friendly, rubber ducky claw game. Great time. Super cost effective winter escape.

My biggest complaint is the HEAVY chlorine smell, the whole swimming area was literally freezing and the condensation above the pool is dripping off the rusty beams into the pool. Beds weren't really comfortable and rooms were hot with fans on. Stay was good still. Staff were friendly and they had a nice breakfast area.

Clean room, great location, the pool area was super cool too if you’re with a group. The elevator was out when we were there but we didn’t need it anyway. Also, the only odd thing for us specifically was that our room was very warm. It’s December and we had to use the air conditioning bc the room kept going up to about 76. Breakfast was fine as well.

Breakfast only offered until 9am. Booked for 4 guests but only 3 towels in bathroom. Heat very loud!

We booked our stay as we were going to Galena and didn't want to drive far afterwards. Very clean with a nice place to eat as well!

Condensation dripping in pool area concerning for mold. Extremely humid in pool area. We had our rehearsal dinner there 22 years ago and it was not like this. Most likely will stay somewhere else in future. Not enough staff at restaurant.

Friendly staff

Hotel was easy to find. It was connected to the restaurant Old Chicago which was convenient for us to be able to find a place to eat. Hotel was in decent condition and comfortable.

Nice property

To be honest, I was very disappointed. When we arrived on Friday we stood in line for 30 minutes waiting to be checked in - a Friday afternoon and only one staffer checking people in? The sink in our room had a large, dirty crack. The varnish was coming off the bottom of the bathroom door. There was just a super tiny shampoo & conditioner bottle in the bathroom, no lotion though. Guests have to go through the swimming pool area just to get to the elevator, which is tiny and beyond super slow. There were no lids for the coffee cups in the room. The property literally has piles of dog poop everywhere outside. I get that dog owners should be picking up their dog waste, but the fact is, they're not, but then the staff isn't either! There is a single doggie bag station outside but on the side of building where people would never expect to find it. The breakfast buffet was terrible. The pancakes tasted terrible, the "scrambled" eggs were those powdered eggs. There was no waffle station. The breakfast buffet was clear in the back of the attached restaurant with NO signage directing guests as to how to find it. Seating was very limited, we had to sit in the restaurant. There was no fresh fruit, no oatmeal, the syrup for the pancakes was in a carafe but was stone cold! The butter for the pancakes or toast was in a very stupid location and nowhere near the bread or pancakes. This hotel is very dated, I felt like I was in an old Motel 6.

Lovely place

The location was nice, easy to access and get into town and out of town. Patrons next to me had a small yappy dog in the room which was annoying.

Only bad thing i can say is that the coffee maker didn't work. Other than that i would definitely stay again!

We left early for several reasons, broken tooth and too noisy by pool for us!

The bed was nice and I didn’t sink into it. My complaints: there was no hair dryer in the room and the screaming kids in the pool the night before my race.

My check-in time was supposed to be 3:00 pm. Room was not ready when I arrived at 4:45 pm. Then the room was not clean when I walked into it. The toilet seat was left up and there was visible urine on the toilet. Clearly had not been cleaned. There was also popcorn on the floor near the bed. Nothing felt clean or wiped. There were weird tapping, scurrying noises in our ceiling all night, pretty sure it was some kind of rodents. This hotel charges $200 per night and it is so trashy and needs updating in a BAD way! RIP OFF. Please go elsewhere. Go to Hampton Inn Dubuque or Fairfield. Do not go to the Best Western on Dodge St. I will never stay here again.

The checkin in was a hot mess. We arrived early was told check wasn’t for an hour or so. So we relaxed in the waiting area with the front desk staff knowing we would liked checked in early if possible. Once they got rooms ready others had arrived also and unless I wouldn’t have gotten up and stepped up the staff was just checking other in as they walked in instead of calling on us to check in. We were a little put off by all of that. The room was clean and nice and the hot tub after a busy couple of days was nice.
