Older property

The hotel is rather dilapidated which was surprising. Our room with two double beds (there were four of us) was still not ready at their check in time of 4pm. All they could do was switch us to a room with one king bed and offer a cot. We asked for two cots which they delivered. But these things probably were used in WWII they were so ancient and uncomfortable. They also came with just sheets and one ancient flimsy blanket. But we had an event to be at in a half hour so didn’t have time to wait for our real room. Come bedtime, one of us was chilly. We went to call down to the desk to ask for another blanket and realized our phone wasn’t plugged in. Nor was there a port ANYwhere to be found to plug it in. So I walked the maze up to the desk to ask. I was informed that the hotel did not have any blankets to give. They were all in use. That’s right. Every single one. But I was instead offered more towels to use as blankets. Come check out, there wasn’t even a supervisor present to speak with (I overheard the woman in front of me also complaining and she was told the supervisor conveniently comes in at 11, after checkout time). So I didn’t bother. We didn’t get any offers of money off or anything else. It was rough. Don’t stay here.

The staff is kind and so very helpful. Hotel is poorly maintained. The indoor pool was freezing. Restaurant was closed because of staffing issues. Luckily the location is very walkable for McDonalds, Burger King, and several other restaurants.

Could use updating, wallpaper was falling off walls, but otherwise it was perfectly fine. Our room was very large.

We’ve stayed there 3 times in the last 2 years. Each time it just feels a little less cared for. Our favorite is the walk out patio from our room because it faces such cozy surroundings to the courtyard. We love sitting there looking at the indoor trees, and pool. The pool has been closed each time we went because of cold water temperatures. This last stay (Oct 2023) the drapes in our room were visibly stained, the sheers were so wrinkled, they looked like they were recently rolled up into a ball, our beds squeaked at the slightest of movements and the shower knob took all my strength to turn it on. The bed sheets appeared crisp and clean and I DID NOT see bed bugs, so we stayed. It’s such a cute place, but they need to put more work into it.

There was spider webs in the corners. The facility could use some maintenance.

Nice location as it is near a large body of water and is conveniently located Quiet and safe. Room was dated and needs updates. Okay stay for one night. Nice property with so much potential.

The entire grounds and facility was in disrepair. No dining on a bar. Rooms looked like they were furnished by a thrift shop. Rusty and broken lighting in rooms. no amenities in room...you pay $10 extra and they deliver a small fridge. ANY OTHER HOTEL/MOTEL IN THE AREA WOULD BE A MAJOR UPGRADE.

Experience was good but was sorry to see many out of order or closed !. Disappointed we were required to pay for our breakfast.

Toilets clogged, dirty tables, pee all over toilet base

Gorgeous property and friendly staff! The facilities need updating but were clean and functional. We hope to return!

Very run down. I overheard one staff member say it looks like “The Shining”, but they can’t get the owners to update anything. That’s an accurate description

They advertise a heated pool, so I rented a room because I was having a major fibromyalgia attack and the warm water would've helped. However, the pool is ice cold, and it's in an open area where the air is very cold as well… If I wasn't tired I would leave and go home tonight ...very disappointed !!!

I will never stay here again awful smell in room and it costed 189.00 no fridge no microwave you had to rent them that is terrible. bed was uncomfortable

It is not worth the money!

Are you looking for a place to sleep between Boston and NYC? This is a great option. Are you looking for a resort for a week? Well, it has seen better days. Clearly some updates including bathroom renovation have been made. And while faded, it is clean, rooms are large.

It's just very run down and not a place you want to stay when you are tired and on the road

The indoor pool was not functioning (heat pump not working) even though we asked in advance if it was. All of the restaurants onsite were closed, even though it was advertised they were open. The staff was not helpful. And the overall hotel seemed rundown and shabby.

Clean no fuss hotel. Older but clean and bed was comfortable. Pictures of the hotel show a hot tub but there was not one I could find.

Location to I-84 & Mass Pike is good.

The room was fine, clean, and neat but the property was not as described. There were limited TV options. The windows in the room's sliding doors (the only windows in thecroom) had fogged between the panes of glass, which obstructed the view of the lake. There was a water stain or mold stain on the ceiling. The building and grounds were run down and neglected. The dock was falling apart, the beach was super tiny, and many of the outside sitting areas were overgrown. There was absolutely no food available. None of the restaurants were open as noted in the listing. The bar was only open for a few hours due to a banjo conference. The staff wasn't at all apologetic or accomodating and kept telling people that they couldn't find staff to work and that the new owner was going to renovate the place - here's hoping...

We had been there 40 years ago and it has deteriorated so much that we spent our stay putting together ideas that could bring it back to its former glory. No fridge, or microwave, air quality was poor and the placement of our room (which we could have changed) was terrible. Web says food but there was not dining at all. Not even coffee!

Nice outside with lake. Room was carpeted, moldy spits on ceiling and no food service. Staff was very nice.

The property was in a state of disrepair. The room was clean but dated with multiple large spiders present. The siding glass door looked out onto a balcony which wasn’t accessible due to a rod screwed into the sliding glass doors. It was a weird experience overall and I slept with the lights on.

Booking Ref # 72646706943264 Sturbridge, MA USA Fri, Sep 8 - Sat 9 I booked this hotel, for one night, based on the description and photos on your website. It was to be a treat for my wife's birthday. Check in is supposed to be 4pm. My wife and I had been playing golf and arrived at the hotel at approximately 5:30pm, ready for a shower, some food and a drink. We were told that our room was not ready and had to wait around until after 6 pm until we could get into the room. The two restaurants mentioned on your website do not exist. There was no food available at the hotel. The indoor 'heated' pool was very cold. Your website also shows pictures of a jacuzzi, which does not exist. After showering and going to a local restaurant to eat, we returned to the hotel around 9.30pm, planning to have a drink at the hotel bar. The bar was closed. There were patches of black mold on the bedroom ceiling. The balcony, looking over the lake was, in my opinion, unsafe. The wooden planks looked rotten, they were slippery and moved when I put my foot on them. The hotel decor and furniture are very tired and run down. The carpets are filthy and malodourous, particularly on the stairs and upstairs landings. Hotels.com has misrepresented the actual state of the hotel and the facilities that are available, and needs to update these. I paid over $200 for the room and feel badly let down. I am requesting a full refund as a goodwill gesture.

First of all our room was not ready until 6:15 pm because they do not have enough housecleaning staff. You can not get any food in this hotel - AT ALL! The toilet was still dirty when we got into the room. The next morning all my husband and I wanted was a cup of coffee and tea - Not possible!! I spent $370 for the room and could not get a cup of coffee or tea!! Nevermind ANY sort of breakfast. DONT STAY THERE!!

Hotel definitely dated. Rusty pipe, wallpaper peeling in Bathroom. Put out into the furthest part of the building when the hotel is not that full. No Ref or microwave in room. Restaurant not open. When I checked out, I was told that I had already checked out......concerning to say the least.

Very pretty property. Pool is gorgeous. Could not picture a more perfect setting for an unforgettable reception. Room was a standard queen, nice, wished for a fridge though. Bed is pretty firm. Staff was supremely kind & helpful. Will return. Thank you so much!
