We had an amazing stay at beautiful Villa Unaweza. The staff was super hospital and friendly and it was all clean. Designed with love for the details in Tanzanian traditional wood style.
The island does not always have electricity but the resorts have a generator.
The location is very calm and away from the „party areas“, nearby authentic local village with delicious food and drinks at or nearby the beautiful white-sandy beach.
The room/lodge didn’t have a toilet door. It was a design element but we would have preferred more privacy.
Everything else was nice.

From the moment we arrived, we were warmly greeted, and all our needs were attended to. Our bags were carried into our room as we had a welcome drink. After a full day of traveling, the air-conditioning wasn’t working. We mentioned it to the manager who had it attended to immediately while we ate dinner. Done. The grounds were super well maintained, it was private, quiet, lush with bougainvilleas blooming everywhere. The pool was regularly attended to, the staff was continually hospitable when we asked any questions or mentioned any needs. The villa itself feels like you are in paradise. The rooms are all decorated in neutrals, wood decor and beautiful cotton sheets on the beds. (It’s as good as the pictures look.) The breakfast is delicious and we ate several evening meals at the.B.V.U. They were tasty and fresh!
The staff were amazing! And seemed genuinely happy as they did their jobs. When it was time to rest or read, the common areas are quiet and inviting. It’s just a beautiful spot.
We were able to rent a scooter for a couple of days and a car right from the front desk. Reception took care of it all.
Both the owner, and the Manager, (Anna), were attentive and kind and went out of their way to make our trip memorable. It was near a perfect vacation.
It wasn’t the best beach for regular swimming due to the extreme tidal situation in Matemwe, but it was the perfect beach for private walks any time of day (even at night), and a restful stay. Also, there was only one bottle of water provided per room per day. Probably having access to free, fresh water all day would be a plus.

Amazing accommodation! Beautiful rooms and surroundings, fantastic atmosphere. The owner and reception staff were very attentive and always on hand to help with anything and everthing. We had the most relaxing time here. The restaurant on site serves delicious dinners at a decent price too!
Nothing! We decided to stay in Matemwe because we wanted to be in a quieter area but it might not suit every traveller as it is a small village.

The villa is in a very quiet surroundings.
The pool is excellent with cosy beds.
You can easily walk to the beach and walk to a beach bar Marafiki and Sunrise Hotel where is live music sometimes.
You can also go to nearby restaurants (Marlin restaurant was very nice and half the price of a meal in Ville Unaweza)
You can also walk to Matewme and there are several mini markets and also a Liqour store Mjambo (they sell beer for 20% of the price in the Villa)
They fixed the things that didn't work in our room quickly.
The shower was not very warm and lots of ants in our room and terrace.
The coffee with breakfast is not hot and if you ask for new coffee they just add water with the same filtercoffee, so it is not very strong coffee.
The prices in the restaurant for meals and drinks are very high compared to the neighboorhood places.
The taxi service is very expensive, we arranged a taxi with a local taxi driver for 60000 TSH ($25) also a trip to Kendwa for half the price offered in the Villa Unaweza.
The wifi is not working properly and you have to log in every time you use your smartphone. Some websites don't work with videos.
