This was our third trip to Jamaica and second to Montego Bay. Pros: - The buffet is good - The gym has every machine imaginable - The staff is lovely - Pretty grounds - Good beaches - Great views Cons: - The "save your beach seat with a towel" culture that is so prevalent at these resorts (not unique to this one). I want to be on vacation and not fighting over space at the beach. - The bars run out of normal ingredients (soda) sometimes. It happens! Not a huge deal. - The specialty restaurants aren't spectacular (except for the service). - Not a big salad bar selection. This was a much better experience than we've had at previous resorts. Recommend.

This resort was very nice, very clean and full of very pleasant staff. Definitely one of the nicer resorts that I’ve seen.

It was good. The only problem was at check in. The Time Share Sales people are relentless. Check in was not as smooth as I’m used to at Dreams Resorts but in the end it worked out.

Everything was great but the food

Location: Secrets St.James location is amazing, on a secluded peninsula 20 min drive from the airport. Restaurants: A lot of restaurants on any taste. Preferred club: Preferred club is quiet and secluded. The beach area is very close to the building but you need to wake up 7am in the morning to get space in a shade. Preferred club guests have an access to the Breathless resorts amenities. This is party resort with entertainment but no strait access to the beach, they use the beach on the Secrets side. They have the buffet in the morning that not that crowded as at Secrets and we enjoyed to go there for our breakfast. Staff: Staff is friendly but expecting tips. Room: When we bought the trip, it was very important for us to have 2 beds, they found just one room with 2 beds,but it wasn't that good - on the first floor, with the toilet with no door to be closed made for handicapped person, one of two showers didn't work at all, the hot tub on the patio we couldn't use - it was exactly at the entrance of the building with people walking by non stop, lacked privacy. Transportation: We decided on Jamaica tour transportation. On arrival we had to wait for the driver to collect more passengers, the ride back from hotel was very smooth. In summary the location, restaurant options, and certain amenities were positive aspects, but there were notable issues with the room and some aspects of the beach experience.

Everything was great.. besides I had to stay in a room that i originally didn’t pay for and the view was horrible.. I didn't get another room until the second night.. i was hoping to be compensated for the first two days.. all i was given for my troubles was a small plate of dessert . other than that the trip was amazing!!

Horrible hospitality, minium entertainment and activities

Very noisy in the hallways in the morning. Also, bathtub in room wouldn’t plug, so unable to use bath, the ceiling had a leak, the vanity mirror was about to fall off. Most of the staff were amazing, but some staff seemed very annoyed with customers. I have stayed at many all inclusives and definitely expected more for the price I paid.

The admission staff was welcoming and Marlando at the swim up bar was a blast! But overall I found most staff to be lukewarm at best. 😕 In comparison, we traveled to Cancun, Mexico this past May and felt like we were long lost family. Secrets St James is a beautiful facility and we did enjoy our time overall.

Property was clean and kept up nicely. Biggest negative was for a resort to be adult only, bar areas closed way too early and little to no nightlife. Place was dead after 10:00 pm!! No day time entertainment at the pools, music, etc….pretty boring!!

The Secrets St. James was visually a beautiful property. However, the room bathroom and shower areas could use some updating. Some of the staff was very friendly, but others were indifferent to black and brown people. I travel with a group of friends. We’re about 40 and up, so we tip generously when serviced well. We even tip one of the young ladies $100 because she talked about the education system in Jamaica. It was moving! The spa was nice! We really enjoyed the couples massages. There is no hard sell for time-share, but it is available if that’s your thing and you want free stuff. The best restaurant on the property is Oceana. Beware, all restaurants are like an indoor/outdoor setup. I thought I could get away from the heat at some point. It’s a little better. But I was expecting at least one to be enclosed. Nighttime entertainment was nice. Daytime entertainment was good, but you may have to go to the pool where it’s being offered. Only people lodging in one of preferred members room have access to Breathless. Expedia VIP is not honored, At least not my status. It rained a few times when there, but never long enough to ruin the vacation. We never left the property, but we had a great time relaxing. Others we spoke to enjoyed excursions like zip lining and ATVs.

Lovely resort

It was a very nice place but because its so gated, you are unable to leave to explore island unless you pay for an excursion which takes all day, keeping you away from the all inclusive resort. The rooms were ok but needs some tlc. Our shower door trim was broken, a crack in the vanity with an awful glue repair. We were never given robes to use and stocked bar is just beer and water. Would like next time to stay near somewhere like Margaritaville so we can shop elsewhere other then resort that charges double for items you can get elsewherever, like the airport.

It was very beautiful andbkept well. The food could use some work. Maybe more seasoning...and AIR CONDITIONING, especially in the hibachi restaurant. I would also recommend earlier shows than 930pm.
