The Ashley is good value for money, as such I was bordering on giving it an “excellent” rating, but it’s beginning to look very slightly tired in places. However don’t take this comment as a major criticism, it’s clean, it’s very close to town with a short walk over the footbridge and Jesus Green. We’ve been using the Ashley and its sister hotel The Arundel for 35 years during our jaunts to Cambridge and happy to continue doing so. A major plus at the Ashley is free parking and they’re thankfully flexible if you want to make the best of your last morning by leaving the car a short time after checking out.

The room was very clean with a comfortable bed and the breakfast was excellent. There was only one member of staff, Jan, who served breakfast and cleaned the rooms. She was very friendly and helpful. Loads of room for free parking. The only negative was that we were in a ground floor room and we could not open the windows! It was 33 degrees outside and was so hot in the room. Jan did bring us a fan that helped slightly. She explained that people were going out and leaving the windows open. So if you are going to book, then ask for an upstairs room.

Had a nice time. Breakfast was good and not far from the town centre.

Good location and parking. Nice room and comfortable bed. Room amenities were very good. My only gripe is there was a Q tip on top of the toilet and it was covered in somebody's ear wax. The room could have been given a better clean. The breakfast was lovely.
