Ines and Paulo were the pefect hosts. Ines couldn't have been more helpful with answering my plentiful questions. Such a congenial couple in a scenic setting, walking distance to the Mateus Palace and major highways. This 17th century property retains all the rustic charm of that era while providing the modern amenities that make the stay comfortable! The other two guest houses on the property with 1-2 bedrooms and baths are simply charming and a good value for families traveling together. The pool looked clean and inviting although we did not take a dip. We loved sitting in the patio!

Lovely and quiet. Comfy bed and lovely breakfast. We had a car and were looking for somewhere central and this ticked the boxes. Close to the Palace de Mateus and the Douro valley and the Parque de Nacionale, it worked for us. It has a pool so in the heat of summer would be good to cool off and relax.

If you don't have a car would be a bit far out.

Beautiful place! The apartment had everything you need. Very cozy and comfortable. Very hospitable and responsive hosts.

We were in December and it was chilly at first.

Location and breakfast were good. it was near the Palacio Matues, the family that commercialized Mateus Rosé, if you're old enough to recall that phenomenon. Also, two nice restaurants within a shop walk from the house. It was a fairly long walk into town, but pleasant and pretty. Down across and gorge and then up again into the old city center. The town was definitely worth a visit, with a beautiful main praça and lots of nice shops and cafés. The people were very helpful in helping with directions for walking and for catching the bus. It was easy returning by local bus.

Everything was nice. It's an old house with a lot of charm.

The location was perfect for us. It was only a mile from The Mateus Palace. It was a charming cottage in the countryside.

We would have liked more lights in the living room area.

The host was superlative! Very thoughtful and provided many extras! Nicely decorated, very warm.

Lovely traditional property. Very clean and comfortable. The swimming pool is great for cooling off and having a little exercise. We chose the have alfresco breakfast on the shady patio, which was great. Local restaurants are 10 - 15 minutes walk away. Our host could not have been more welcoming or helpful. Nothing was too much trouble. One of our group had to hang around until 4:00pm on the day we left and she made sure he was looked after. Secure parking for motorcycles behind a steel gate was a bonus.

Nothing, for the price it is unbeatable.
