The Babel Community Hôtel - Vieux Port

Great place ! Great location ! Everything was nice

Location and the room itself

The rooftop. Day 1: a one person dinner was not possible - fully booked. As a hotel guest! Day 2: private event at the rooftop. No availability for dinner on rooftop. Day 3: drinks with partner at 17.30hrs. No availability, we are full, commented the staff. Tables were empty, long before dinner time. Not a good experience all together.

The breakfast is excellent, and the view is amazing while you eat it. Bed was very comfy, and the gym and the classes were nice. Staff were helpful and lovely. The location is really handy for seeing Marseille by foot.

It’s in the 1st Arrondissement so it was a little loud at night on the weekend, and I didn’t get to sleep until the early hours. The shower pressure is on the lower side.

Comfortable bed, spacious room and nice breakfast.

It seems to me a product of a startup / trendy mindset as a multilayer but poorly defined space (residential / hotel / cowork) rather than a good comfortable place to stay. The “climatized” room is always warm (they even put a fan in the room in advance so you don’t even bother them), not enough refreshing for Marseille’s temperatures. Also, in the name of cost-saving, water flow in the shower is not strong enough, sometimes you have to place yourself as close as possible to the wall of the water to have some of the weak flow of water over your body. Finally, the room had a terrible old air conditioning smell. I couldn’t wait to leave and would definitely not stay there again.
