Downtown Hostels Ella

Absolutely gorgeous property! Centrally located with a lovely, homely environment and view. The staff were wonderful ..special credit to Shafan, who was an amazing host. He guided us to the best places around, arranged tuk-tuks for us, and when my sister fell a bit sick, he genuinely took care of us and checked in throughout. The hospitality was impeccable.

The only downside was that since it was off-season, there weren't many planned group activities happening. It would have been nice to have a few more of those to join in on.

It is in a very good location. Walking distance to all the bars and restaurant. Staff were helpful and accommodating.

It advertised a continental American style breakfast but when we went for breakfast we were just given omelette sandwiches without being asked or told what the options were for breakfast. We also had a dietary requirement in our group which required attention and it was misunderstood.

Great property in Ella, off the main road but not more than five minutes to all of the attractions. They have tour services as well. The staff are friendly and welcoming, the room was large with strong AC, privacy curtains, a huge bathroom with hot water shower and comfortable beds -- also HUGE lockers. The terrance out back is quiet and comfortable with tons of seating. I can't recommend this place highly enough. Supermarket literally across the street -- and you should hunt down "The Little Restaurant" for lunch -- outside the Hamburger and Pizza places with local food at a great price.

I'm always miffed by towel rental -- but I suppose the price is low, so the 200 Rupees is me nitpicking.
