The location is fantastic. Not very far from the town but secluded enough for a peaceful break. The lodge is huge and absolutely gorgeous. The beds are very comfortable and the bedrooms, although having no wardrobes, were equipped with drawer space. The kitchen had sufficient appliances for everything we needed. There were enough plates cups glasses for our party (7) but only 6 forks. We didn’t use the log fire but the heating worked really well and the lodge was very warm. The shower is very hot and powerful but the flow does slow down if somebody else used the water in the lodge. There is a lot of parking space. We had 3 cars and plenty of room to park. We met the host and she was lovely. Really helpful polite and friendly. Would definitely recommend this lodge and I would happily book again.

The lodge was in need of a few repairs here and there. The doors to the dining room and one of the bedrooms don’t lock properly. We had to tie a ribbon around the handles inside to secure it. The owner did tell us about this when we arrived so we were aware. We also found that it wasn’t really cleaned thoroughly. There was a lot of cobwebs on the high shelf above the fire. The windows were quite dirty and there was dust underneath the beds, under the kitchen table and a lot of dust and hairs on the rug in the lounge. The oven and fridge could do with a better clean also. Apart from that the important things were clean eg the bedding towels beds and bathrooms. It just needs a more thorough clean through.

It was beautifully decorated and no expense spared on fixtures and fittings. The location was fantastic and a short drive to the nearest village of Pocklington where you will find every single cuisine and lots of bars and cafes. The owner Christine met us upon arrival and explained that she was struggling to get the doors fixed. She was lovely and very helpful.

It needs attention, the patio doors were not aligned therefore didn’t keep out the cold. The oven hadn’t been cleaned. It just needs TLC
