The hotel and its grounds were fabulous, very clean and well maintained. Our room was huge with lots of nice touches. Breakfast was great, plenty of choice and good quality. The buffet really was "help yourself" unlike on cruise ships!

The immediate area outside the hotel boundaries was not a nice place to wander around...lots of rubbish and derelict looking cafe/bars on the beach and unmade roads. Saw 2 dead turtles washed up on the beach. So that limits activities during the day if the weather isn't warm enough to laze by the pool or on the private beach.

The rooms, pools and grounds are maintained to a very high standard, and you can see staff working throughout the day to keep everything immaculate. The Guest Experience team were also quick to respond whenever we contacted them. Overall, this is a beautiful hotel with excellent facilities, but unfortunately our experience of the "all-inclusive" package did not live up to our expectations or, in our opinion, represent what we believed we were paying for. Greater transparency before booking about the difference between Standard All-Inclusive and All-Inclusive Level would have made a significant difference to our experience.

We booked Meliá Durres hotel for six days and paid almost £2,000, choosing it specifically because it was advertised as an all-inclusive holiday. Unfortunately, the reality of the all-inclusive experience was very different from what we reasonably believed we had booked. It was only after we arrived and had paid the hotel directly at check-in that the restrictions of our package were properly explained to us. Our "standard all-inclusive" package included breakfast, lunch and dinner in just one restaurant, a limited selection of drinks, and access to the beach restaurant as part of the package at lunchtime only. We completely understand that all-inclusive packages can have certain restrictions. Our issue is that the extent of these restrictions was not made clear when we booked through Booking.com, nor did we feel they were clearly explained on the hotel's own website. Had the different levels of all-inclusive been clearly outlined before booking and payment, we could have made an informed decision about which package was right for us. We were also disappointed by the lack of information provided at check-in. We received a hotel map, but very little useful information regarding breakfast, lunch and dinner times, spa and gym opening hours, or a clear explanation of exactly what our package included. I contacted Guest Experience for further information and was then told that there is an "All-Inclusive Level" package, which apparently includes benefits such as access to rooftop pools and bars, additional restaurants, complimentary spa access and more. Again, this distinction was not clear to us when booking. Two days into our stay, we received a card offering us a complimentary dinner at another restaurant. We appreciated the gesture and were looking forward to experiencing something different. Once seated, we were informed that we could only choose certain starters, mains and desserts, which we understood given that the meal was complimentary.

We really loved our stay! The staff were amazing, especially the Level Pool staff, who made us feel truly special and provided exceptional service throughout our stay. The restaurants were also amazing, and the food was absolutely delicious. Everything we tried was fresh and beautifully prepared. We would definitely love to come back!

It’s a very large property with a lot of food options to choose from! It’s also very family friendly so if you have children, it’s a perfect spot to bring them.

We opted for the “adults only” package which gives us access to the “level” which is a restaurant only adults are allowed to and an adults only rooftop with a small pool and bar. Our room was right on the main pool so kids were screaming right on our patio the whole time which wasn’t an enjoyable experience. So if you want a bit more of an “adults only” experience - DO NOT STAY HERE.
