Dar Dorra

Perfect position in the Medina, amazing breakfast with a view over the whole Tunis. Kind staff and a crazy attention to details. Really a perfect place for a luxurious experience.

Dar Dorra is a beautiful hotel in the heart of the Medina. The room was clean, beautiful and provided many extras (eg. slippers, loufa for the scrub, etc). I have tried the Spa and booked the Bien-etre package, which included the scrub and a massage, and I especially loved the scrub. I would recommend booking the Spa the week before your arrival, as spots are limited.

I'm sharing this detail as an improvement opportunity, although it does not depend directly on Dar Dorra: in the alleys next to the hotel there were many cats that were sick and needed medical care. I would really appreciate if you could help in taking care of the local cats

Struttura meravigliosa, pulita e confortevole, ricavata da una tipica villa tunisina nella Medina. La stanza è accogliente e intima, curata nei minimi dettagli; il bagno ampio e funzionale. Colazione abbastanza essenziale, ma buona. Personale gentile e disponibile. Abbiamo fatto l’hammam gratuito, e anche un trattamento scrub a pagamento alla spa dell’associato Dar El Jeld, con cui la struttura è comunicante. Bellissima la vista serale di cui si gode dal ristorante sul rooftop, nel quale abbiamo cenato (cena nell’insieme buona, ma niente di che). Consiglio questa struttura a chi desidera vivere un’esperienza più intima e autentica, rispetto ad un soggiorno nelle anonime grandi catene di hotel della città nuova.

Rapporto qualità prezzo non proprio eccellente

The hotel is in the middle of Medina, with a very nice rooftop. The hotel is beautifully decorated, and the room is nice and clean. The breakfast is good, and the restaurant staff are helpful. They also serve fruits, dates, and chocolate every evening.

The first impression of the hotel was terrible. First, the hotel is very difficult to find in the middle of Medina. Taxi do not go inside the Medina. I walked around in circles for a long time to find the hotel. They did not offer pick up or give instructions how to find the hotel. Then the check in experience was not pleasant. They could not check me in at 2:00 pm, the hotel regular check in time! They said the room is not ready. As far as I can tell, the hotel is not full either. I travelled to 160 countries, and have never run into a hotel that can not check me in at the regular time! At first, they offered me a drink to wait. I have very short time in Tunis, and was eager to look around. Finally, they offered me complimentary lunch at the rooftop restaurant. That was a nice gesture. And at 2:50 pm, the room was finally ready. I would not recommend this hotel, given its hard-to-find location and the unhelpful reception staff.
