Comfortable, friendly staff

Everything was fine

We absolutely loved our stay at Olkinyei Mara. Everything was excellent from start to finish. The room was spotless, comfortable, and very well maintained. The staff were always friendly, welcoming, and happy to help with anything we needed. The food was also amazing, with every meal being fresh, delicious, and well prepared. The combination of the beautiful surroundings, great service, comfortable accommodation, and fantastic food made our stay truly memorable. We would definitely stay here again and highly recommend this lodge to anyone visiting the Maasai Mara!

The only thing we didn’t like was that we couldn’t stay longer! Everything was so enjoyable that we wished we had booked a few more nights. We would have happily stayed longer and enjoyed more time.

The staff are incredible. They’re always so willing to help and happy to do so. Learning about the Masai culture and way of life directly from the source has been enriching and an experience we will value for the rest of our lives. They’ve definitely improved the overall experience. The camp itself is lovely and the room was luxurious as well.

I saw the same staff working there from 5:30am to 10pm every day we were there (4 days total). During our stay we found out that they work 3 months then go home to their families for 2 weeks. That’s roughly 1386 hours of work before they get a short break. They are clearly being overworked and I doubt they’re being paid fairly either. This lodge is not cheap and should easily be able to improve the lives of the people working there! Especially considering how hard they work.

The inadequate water pressure and shower facilities. It looked to be very luxurious, but an actuality took a long time for the water to heat up enough to take a very inadequate shower. This was the one accommodation we were looking most forward to on our trip and the one we were the most disappointed with in the end. In between safari drives, there's absolutely nothing to do.The tents are so stiflingly hot that even spending time inside them, was brutal. At checkout, we were told that they could not run a credit card in Kenyan shillings, which made no sense whatsoever because of their obvious international clientele, and then added a fee for using a credit card. We booked eight different properties on this trip and not a single other property did either one of these things. We felt like what was advertised was not delivered, and were very disappointed in the end.
