Zarafshon Parkside

Zarafshon Parkside is an immaculate and modern hotel in a leafy part of Samarkand. The reception staff were incredibly friendly and helpful with recommendations, and we enjoyed the pool, gym and gift shop. The breakfast was also exceptional.

Location was perfect for the sights. Hotel staff was top quality all the time. The restaurant "Badr" served excellent food. There was a malfunction with the air conditioning in our room and the staff reacted immediately: first trying to fix the problem and then changing our room. First class action - in that extreme heat these things sometimes happen. This took place quite late, at around 23:00. The staff handled the situation in a manner that is exemplary. We had to leave early to catch the train and were gifted with breakfast boxes. We had to leave with smiles on our faces.

Beautiful heritage building and grounds, pool, size of room and balcony (the Superior Suite), variety at breakfast buffet, convenient location.

Apparently you can’t even bring your own alcohol to this hotel. I saw that they “don’t serve alcohol” when booking, but when we turned up, there were signs everywhere “no smoking” and “no alcohol. That was a really unpleasant surprise. Communication was a bit shabby, we were not told that our mini bar (alcohol-free, of course) was free of charge, only found out at checkout. It was also not replished during our stay. We weren’t told we could order cooked eggs, we only found out when we saw other guests ordering.

barely a 5 star. trying to pass as one.

hotel staff behaviour, grounds, breakfast.
