The Funky Monkey Hostel - 18 to 40 years old only

This was our first hostel experience and it was amazing!! The property was very spacious and felt like we were staying at a family home. Between the game room, the gym, the drying area, free body paint, free water, free community supper, a bar, a lovely porch outside- it was truly a great hostel. P1 was and will forever be our FAVORITE host as she was so beyond accommodating and sweet. Additionally, Funky Monkey was a wonderful social hostel as we met amazing people from all over and became very close the whole time we were on the island. Absolutely recommend and will definitely be back!!

We wish P1 had more time off because she works so hard ❤️❤️

La struttura è perfetta nel periodo del Full Moon Party! Si socializza molto facilmente, organizzano una cena la sera prima e si va insieme al Jungle Party (5 min dall’ostello). La sera del Full Moon si va tutti insieme. P1, la signora alla reception gentilissima e simpaticissima, e’ pronta ad aiutare tutti gli ospiti.

The owner was nice and welcoming and check-in was easy. It was a quieter period during my stay, so the atmosphere may be different at other times.

Stayed here for two nights and woke up with around 15 bites after the first night, mostly on my legs, arms, and hips. I had been in Phuket for about five days before arriving and had zero bites, so this started after staying here. The bites looked very consistent with bed bug bites, so I recommend the property check the mattress and bedding carefully as something in the room did not seem right. The location was not very convenient during my stay because the Full Moon period was not on, so the area felt quite empty. The setup of the bathroom was also unusual, with the shower attached to the toilet and no real separation, and the toilet/shower area connected directly to the dorm with only a curtain dividing it, which did not feel very clean or private. The room was also very dark, and even around 9am it was hard to tell it was daylight outside, which made it easy to oversleep. There was not much atmosphere or schedule during my stay, so overall the vibe felt quite bland.
