We had booked a small double room but the room was much larger than we exepected with a lovely big, very comfortable bed and a separate area for making hot drinks. The bathroom was also very large. The decor was very stylish and the garden was a beautiful, peaceful place to relax and have breakfast. There was a good choice of food, lovely bread and scrambled eggs available to order. The location was perfect right in the middle of the old town but tucked away in a quiet little street near a very good restaurant that also had a lovely garden. We were travelling by bicycle and could leave our bikes in a secure location at the top of the stairs down to the garden. We would definitely stay here again if we can book it.

Everything was perfect

Lovely clean room, and serviced daily. Location right in the heart of historic Otranto, but still super quiet — the garden is lovely but we didn’t sit out there much because of mosquitoes. Breakfast was ample and varied, Bernice was kind and helpful. It was nice to have a kettle and teabags in the room.

There is no one on the property after 1pm: check in is done with a key code and feels pretty impersonal. We arrived at the room and found our adaptors didn’t fit in the sockets, but there was no one around to help. I had to WhatsApp and be quite firm for someone to come and help. Not the best welcome! We also were given beach towels and then told we had ‘rented’ them at the end! I was quite firm in saying we hadn’t been informed of any rental service and in the end we weren’t charged, but it feels pretty cheeky and underhand especially given how expensive this place is for what it is. We also had a weird last morning at breakfast, with the manager sitting with all her paperwork out and talking loudly on the phone but not introducing herself or asking how our stay had been. Not relaxing at all, actually kind of a vibe kill. Some lovely things about this place but ultimately didn’t really feel that valued as guests.

Cozy, amazing central location, and great rooms. Benedice does a wonderful job with the outdoor breakfast, keeping everything clean indoors, and providing overall great service with local tips and activity recommendations. Serena, the Office Manager, was also super helpful with information about the city and arranging our transfer on departure day. Full score / 10 out of 10!

The breakfast was quite plain and nothing special. Since I have celiac disease, the options were very limited, though they did make me a good omelette. Overall, it was very standard. The ladies working in the breakfast area were very kind, but they didn’t speak English. The room was beautiful, but quite dark. The garden area was also very lovely, though unfortunately the weather wasn’t on my side, so I couldn’t really spend time there. Since it was raining, eating outside was difficult as there were no covered areas. Thankfully, there was one dry table available, and I was lucky that a kind couple from Australia invited me to join them.

When I first read about this hotel, I was in awe, but something about my intuition felt a little off. I had tried reaching out beforehand with questions about transportation and other details, but I never received a reply. When I arrived, they simply opened the front door and let me into the garden area. It was quite dark, it was raining, and I hadn’t been given any information about which room was mine. I wandered around in the dark, trying to find someone, but there was no reception or clear instructions. After about 10 minutes, I ended up calling the hotel, and they told me they had sent the information by email — but I never received it. Later, during breakfast with the Australian couple, I learned they had experienced the same thing. Overall, it was an unpleasant welcome, and I didn’t feel very well received. The breakfast, too, was just so-so.
