Schlosshotel Klaffenbach

A very exciting location, conveniently reachable by car, though might be quite distant for travellers without own modes of transportation. I liked the breakfast mostly for the ambiance of the castle — the coffee and a main course are served individually, while lots of starters are available at the buffet.

The room design might seem a little old, which however aligns with the overall vision for the castle. It is certainly compensated with modern bathroom equipment, useful amenities and the views.

This is probably our 8th stay at this hotel, which I think is recommendation enough in itself. Friendly staff, lovely cottages, and a peaceful, quiet location.

The food, both at breakfast and in the restaurant, was rather underwhelming.

We loved everything. Our little one was especially thrilled by a few goodies left especially for her by a staff member who was preparing the room (crayons, colouring notes, kids shampoo and gummy bears). So thoughtful! Little things make you happy ;) Very big bathroom (don't remember when was the last time we saw a big tub AND a walk-in shower in a hotel bathroom. The breakfast was enough, but mind you, you order freshly cooked scramble, omlettes and pancakes with the waiting staff. All perfect and made of excellent quality ingredients. The staff was super helpful and nice. And last but not least the location, the castle, the surroundings.... Stunning. We'll be back!

Nothing really.

The setting and history were great- the restoration and renovations were in tune with the building- definitely an experience stay. The restaurant menu was fantastic- good selection of routine and exciting dishes, and well executed. Staff were very helpful and eager to assist. Rural area meant that English was clearly a second language (but better then my German) and English menus etc were available. We would definitely make the effort to comeback if ever in this area of Germany.
