I managed a beach home on a competitor & VRBO for 5 years. It received only 5 star ratings. We have stayed at over 4 dozen rental apartments, this rental unit was by far the WORSE experience. We are two adult professionals in our late 50s and feel strongly that the folks involved in managing this unit have no interest nor concern for the comfort or safety of their guests. We stayed for 8 nights in July '23. Check in was a miserable unprofessional experience. The apartment has a acrid smell of old cigarettes and smoking. The shower/tub was filthy, dishwasher had dirty items from who knows when, the living room rug filthy, there were small clumps of human hair on the floor around the living furniture. We washed the bedding and towels before using them. Wifi was VERY problematic for the first 5 days. The kitchen has the BARE necessities. The unit has a working air conditioner, however the bedroom stays too warm & stuffy. We requested from Sean (the owner?) a small tower fan (~$50) for the bedroom - he belligerently refused. The bed takes up the majority of the floor space in the bedroom. The apartment has no: vacuum; floor brush; dry mop; or real cleaning supplies, only a dirty mop. When we tried to resolve issues w/5 different individuals, some no longer employees, there is no single point of support. The listed phone # is to an individual no longer an employee. The email contact, Ms. Millar, unethical & skill set deficient & Sean (owner?), also unethical & skill set deficient.

With 33° plus weather and unbearable humidity walking into this unit after climbing for steep flights of stairs with your suitcase, and walking into 50° heat and no working air conditioning was awful. After trying to contact the host for two days, and no response and no air-conditioning and no Wi-Fi. We finally reached the owner he was extremely hostile and said if we kept complaining, he wouldn’t even bring us one fan. He then showed up with no fan and made and made two women over 50 cry with his hostility and misogyny. He also repeatedly told us how he owns 24 buildings and this was his smallest building, and that he didn’t have to do anything for us. The owner explained to us The property manager was unreachable for three days because it was Canadian holiday. We are Canadian and it’s why we are traveling.we finally asked the owner to leave as his hostility became scary, and we felt unsafe. We then found other accommodations for our last two nights and notified VRBO, who never got back to us. We then had a message from the property manager to I guess was finally off holiday and were told to vacate the property and there would be no refunds. We had already left though. I now see why this home has no reviews as the owner simply just gets another property manager to list the unit but doesn’t pay them to work if there’s a holiday. We will never be staying in another VRBO again and are very disappointed and traumatized by the whole experience.
