The Circus Hostel

Clean, modern, convenient, friendly accommodating staff. My first Hostle trip and I enjoyed it.

The signs within the facility for the bathrooms/showers are confusing. It should be a basic easy to understand sign for all travelers. Not a complaint, but a recommendation.

The room I stayed in felt very spacious and had a lot of natural light. I found the locker sizes to be very adequate and easy to access. I also liked that borrowing a hairdryer was free. Some other hostels I have stayed at would ask for a deposit or to hand in an ID or bank card, but the lack of such requirements at Circus Hostel just made it much less of a hassle to borrow one. The staff were extremely helpful and friendly. The multiple doors requiring keycard access made me feel very secure. The showers seemed pretty clean although personally I would not use them barefoot. There were 6 showers on my floor and I never had to wait for one. The highlight were the other guests I met here. At first the lack of bed curtains was a concern for privacy, but I soon realised that this made socialising so much easier and more natural. Although the hostel didn't have its own laundry facilities, this was really a non-issue since a laundrette was about a minute walk away.

The only vegan options for breakfast was vegetable sticks, hummus and some granola. I did not find this to be worth €10.50. There is also no kitchen space to prepare your own food which I would have opted for. However, there are nearby cafes that offer breakfast (I would recommend the breakfast bowl at Lucy's Cafe which I found myself regularly frequenting, if you're willing to spend a little more but for a very nice breakfast).

Cool hostel in a wonderful location in Mitte area. Hostel was very clean with a great breakfast in the coffeeshop next door. If you like David Hasselhoff you ll love this hostel as his face for some Reason seems to be everywhere, on the keycards, on the walls and even on a small frame near the bed! Top bunks had a covering and a small shelf that made the bed feel more cosy and private. Every bed with its own light and USB charging ports. Walking distance to many of landmarks and attractions.

USB ports need to be updated now from USB A to C as I couldn’t charge any of my devices this time. However normal plug-in sockets were also available close to the beds.
