We are a group of 12-15 that has a traditional of going to northern Minnesota each early to mid October. Given the larger size of our group, we normally rent a vacation property in "cabin country." This was our first time at the Ruth Lake Retreat, and all agreed this was one of the finest locations we've had in years. It's a gorgeous property with a great number of bedrooms wonderful kitchen, pool table / foosball table, complete with amazing lake views. If the property is available next year, we'd definitely consider a return trip!

You must see in person to fully appreciate the beauty of this lodge! Panoramic views, cozy fireplaces and truly one of the nicest places we've ever stayed. Over the top accommodations and location!

The devil is in the details and this team missed on almost every one. The property is beautiful and very grand but is not maintained as a high end rental should be. Our grievances include but are not limited to:
1: Housekeeping was not completed. We found an unflushed toilet, sheets and towels still in the washer and dryer, and had stains on our bedding that came out in the wash....yuck!
2: The home was not stocked with any basics. We had to purchase $40 worth of hand soap, dish soap, paper towels, and tissues.
3: Both coffee makers were damaged and or defective. Literally a cracked glass carafe on one, and a mis-sized replacement carafe on the other that required modification to even brew a pot of coffee. Something you may expect in a fishing bunkhouse, not a 9700sqft luxury home.
4: Leaking sink in the kitchen island. Tried to fix it but the trap gasket was too messed up.
5: Refrigerator filter light was flashing and the water tasted like it. Come on people, it's basic maintenance.
6: Pool cues were all messed up and missing tips. Too bad, as we had some pool players in our group and a beautiful pool table with no way to play. If you are going to feature an amenity, you need to make it usable!
Close to being a great rental, but misses hard when it counts.
