Carlos was very helpful& gave us great restaurant recommendations& sights to see. The two rooms were great. Spotlessly Clean& we had room 1 ( the best) great new bathroom& beautiful ceilings. Room 2 had beautiful ceilings & much smaller bathroom so if your very tall ( my son 6 feet 7 inches) get bedroom 1 .
Great beds & sheets.
Breakfast wonderful. Beautiful gardens& a beautiful restored villa
Location ideal& price is great. Guimares is a beautiful town & one of our favorite on our Portuguese trip. We would definitely stay again

I really enjoyed my time here. The room was beautiful and very clean. The staff, Carlos & Mariana were lovely. Friendly, helpful and informative. Location was great, close to everything. I would definitely stay here again when I'm back in Guimarães.

Carlos....Carlos...Carlos....a fabulous host!!! We thoroughly enjoyed our visit to Guimaraes. Staying at Dom Jose was perfect...location, access to the garden area in the back, breakfast in the morning and oh did I mention Carlos. He was incredibly helpful with information about the city, restaurants, etc.
We did have two rooms...one had a very spacious bathroom, the other was more of a closet so ask for the room with the big bath!

It was a beautiful building and the staff seemed nice. The breakfast was very good. The rooms did not have phones, the doors locked with a key only. The staff was not there from 6 in the evening until 8 in the morning which felt very unsafe to me. The beds were hard and awful, the shower and bathroom was very small and water leaked all over from the shower.
