A person this inconsiderate and paranoid should not be hosting anyone.

Because the property is isolated it was mostly silent. It was quite dark around, which was partly good to rest, but also would make it uncomfortable for some travelers having to walk quite a while from the bus station in mostly darkness.

The host was terrible. When I arrived, within the time described for arrivals, he told me that I was too early and I should wait outside in the dark and cold. After waiting outside for 15 minutes I insisted that I should not be left outside and he responded that he could not let me wait in his adjoining home because he did not know me and I might abuse his children (!!), nor could I wait in the annex because I would see him do the cleaning. The annex was cold except for the bedroom which had a portable heater. The place had not been fully cleaned (there were rests of food on a counter) and had minimal toilet paper. The bedsheet had big spots and the place had not a single adornment, making it more like a jail than a place to stay in.

Terrible place. Rotten odor, dirty bed covers, broken wardrobe, poor heating

As soon as we entered the house there was a very strong bad smell of rotten decay around the whole place. The bed covers were dirty. One totally broken wardrobe. One electric heater which didn't have heat enough to warm the place. After 20 minutes we left the place and left the keys in the hosts post box. We went online and found another place which was wonderful. We didn't ask for the refund from The Host as it was written in the advertisement that the payment is non-refundable. I don't understand how booking.com listed this place without doing a background check. I'll be very hesitant in the future to book from booking.com as they listed this place which does not even meet the basic requirements.
