Chalet Sofija

Our stay at Chalet Sofija was truly unforgettable. I celebrated my birthday there, and from the moment we arrived, I was absolutely blown away. My wife had arranged with Aleksandra for a special birthday dessert/cake, which made the experience even more meaningful. Aleksandra and Pop are wonderful hosts, and you can immediately feel how much love and care they have put into creating this place. With only five rooms, Chalet Sofija feels incredibly intimate, exclusive, and homey. We even made friends with some of the other guests, which added to the wonderful atmosphere. It’s the kind of place where, once you arrive, you simply don’t want to leave. The chalet itself is beautiful, with incredible attention to detail, and the mountain views are breathtaking. Waking up to that scenery every morning feels almost unreal. One of the highlights is the food. Pop does all the cooking for breakfast and dinner, and you can genuinely see how much he loves what he does. He comes out to check that you’re enjoying each course, and both breakfast and dinner feel like dining at a five-star restaurant — but in the warmth and comfort of someone’s beautiful home. Add the pool, jacuzzi, gym, and those incredible mountain views, and you have something truly special. A few helpful tips for anyone planning a stay: you’ll likely want to rent a car, as most places and activities are easiest to reach by driving. It’s about 45 minutes from Ljubljana Airport, and we found driving in Slovenia to be very easy and straightforward. A huge thank you to Aleksandra and Pop for making my birthday and our stay so memorable. We left already looking forward to coming back.

Need to call host to open the gate, it’s not automatic at first entrance, and there is no call button at the gate, so you need to locate the phone number from online to call. We waited for a few minutes at the entrance before calling hopping it would open on its own.

The hotel's location is outstanding, with breathtaking mountain views and a wonderfully peaceful atmosphere. The room and all the shared areas are beautifully designed and exceptionally well equipped. The hosts are warm and welcoming, and the cleanliness is truly impeccable. Everything is comfortable, finished with high-quality materials, and maintained to the highest standard. Overall, the property fully lives up to its excellent reputation and is a perfect choice for a relaxing stay.

The only disappointment during our stay was the dinner, which is included in the room rate. After a very promising amuse-bouche, we were served a rather simple warm starter followed by a below-average main course. My husband chose the meat option, which consisted of nothing more than a piece of meat without any side dish. The fish main course was also quite underwhelming and lacked flavor. Unfortunately, the dessert did not meet our expectations either. An exceptional—or at least very good—dinner would have gone a long way toward justifying the overall price of the stay, but unfortunately, that was not the case. I also missed having a choice of wines, as only red wine was offered.

Everything was perfect. Aleksandra & Pop and the staff were amazing. We felt so spoilt while we were there. The food and wine was superb. We loved their little dogs - Joy in particular gave us a lot of joy indeed. Views were amazing. Would recommend to stay here if you like luxury.
