Quiet area with mountain views, lovely swimming hole close by.

Bed was hard

I stayed in the small guest cottage behind the main house and really enjoyed it. The cottage is cozy but well laid out, bright, exceptionally clean, and comfortable. The air conditioning worked very well. The kitchenette was well equipped with cooking oil, salt and pepper, spices, tea and coffee, and even fresh eggs from the owners' chickens. The bathroom was a good size with a walk-in shower. The property itself is beautiful and extremely well maintained, with flowers, fruit trees, and a lovely lawn, all surrounded by views of the Alps. There is an outdoor patio with a BBQ/griddle, a picnic area, and lounge chairs. The cottage has east-facing windows, and I enjoyed watching the evening light paint the Alps. The owners were wonderful: kind, welcoming, and very responsive. The owner offered to wash my clothes and let me use the outdoor clothesline, which I greatly appreciated. I was traveling solo and felt extremely safe here, even outside at 2 a.m. watching shooting stars. The cottage also has a lockbox for valuables. I was delighted to discover a fruiting pawpaw tree. As a Virginian with pawpaw trees at home, that was an unexpected little piece of home in Slovenia! The cottage was a convenient base for exploring the Soča Valley. I enjoyed Gostilna Pri Mostu in Srpenica, just down the main road toward Bovec, where I had mushroom soup and walnut štruklji. In downtown Bovec, I especially liked Real Food Bovec, a wonderful little bakery where I had cheese-filled burek. The dedicated parking space was easy to use once I knew how to reach the property. I really enjoyed the peaceful setting and would gladly return!

The bed was a bit firmer than I prefer, but mattress comfort is very personal. Not really a negative, but something to be aware of when arriving by car: I found the property tricky to locate the first time. The guest cottage is behind the main house at 129a, which itself is behind 129. Some of the village roads are extremely narrow, with buildings directly beside the roadway and two-way traffic. Take it slowly and don't be surprised if you need to continue farther to find a comfortable place to turn around. Once I knew where I was going, it was easy, and the property's dedicated parking space was easy to enter and exit.

This was the best of 7 accommodations in Slovenia over a 2 week trip, the host and hostess are the loveliest people ever, great little space with a wonderful view and amazing incredible walking and swimming accessible from the garden of the property.
