Modern Rooms with SELF Check-In The Castle, Coldstream

Well situated with ideal parking right next door Easy access through coded lock to the outer door and bedrooms. Bedroom was spacious and although some decor is dated the bed was very comfortable. Even though the bedroom I had was on the main road side of the building the noise was minimal. Room had a kettle mini fridge and microwave and there was an unlimited supply of tea and coffee. There was a table and chairs in the room so ideal if you wanted to get food from one of the takeaways in the town, with an excellent Indian restaurant and takeaways and Chinese takeaway just across the road. A coop no more than a stones throw away and some fantastic walks around the town and Hirsel . Ideally placed to access the Scottish Borders and north Northumberland. Host were friendly and accommodating.

The building is old and the floors creak a bit when moving around and you do hear people coming and going as I’m guessing people use the hotel when working in the area, but hey it is what it is.

Door entry was easy and well explained. The room was decently sized and the bed was comfy. Parking was bang outside and plenty of space. The hotel was located centrally to Coldstream and across the road was a shop, Chinese and Indian. The microwave and kettle was a great touch as was the drawers inside the entry with all tea, coffee, milk, sugar biscuits etc, even note paper and pens!!! Brilliant ideas.... Oh I forgot to mention the iron and ironing board and mini fridge!!!

I can't really think of anything, maybe the only thing I can think was not having face to face staff BUT I knew I had contact numbers for if a problem arose.

The self check in was very simple and nice when you're super tired and to just let yourself in and make your way to your room. Everything was signed to show you where the room was and facilities. Had a nice warm shower before settling down in my room. The room had a microwave, TV, fridge, kettle etc so everything you could need and a coffee machine at the front door. The bed was comfy and I slept very well!

The lady when I arrived after a six hour journey told me come back at 3 pm. Surely room was ready at 2 pm when I arrived. She actually rang me twenty minutes later to say I could check in. Not impressed no where to hang your clothes no wardrobe.
