The apartment is in a good location for the slopes and lifts. Great to have a door literally onto the slopes from the ski store/locker room. Also, some nice apres-ski bars in the building (closed early evening so good no noise when we were there). The nearby restaurants were closed when we were there, but it was very late season.
The absolute worst communication. Absolutely horrible experience leading up to our holiday. The 'host's' responses through the Booking.com website are some central booking team in Paris who parrot the same thing/are automated. There is a number for the local reception in Avoriaz but I only managed to get them to answer the phone once. I was trying to arrange late check-in, which was fine and they were happy with. But the local reception would not give me instructions on where to get the keys at 11pm. They told me 'the station' and when I asked for more information and a name the email response was literally just "Avoriaz" in capital letters. They then would not respond to my emails or answer phone calls for more clarity. Booking.com and I tried for nearly 2 weeks to get an answer from them, but nothing. The Paris team apparently told the local reception to explain, but they did not. The only response I got from the Paris team was that checking in was 17:00-18:00 and late check in's needed to arrange with the local team. When I repeated they wouldn't respond, I heard nothing. We had no answer to where to get the keys all the way up to getting into Avoriaz. It was only the driver of the taxi-piste basher that helped us and found someone in the Information Centre that could help up. It would have been so simple for the local reception to say "go to the Avoriaz Welcome Centre". Booking.com tried to help, but didn't really in the end and we were left to worry about having to sleep in the car or find accommodation at 11pm. The apartment is also tired, needs some TLC and is not worth the money. Wifi and linen are also not included which isn't specified in the ad, so that is extra cost on a poor quality place with terrible hosts. Avoid at all costs.
