Quaint location along the river with panoramic views of the stupas. Overall stay okay but...
When I paid for dinner (USD10) during check out,
1. Credit card transaction went through on my side but pending on merchant’s side. After waiting 30-40 mins, hotel didn’t want to swipe the credit card again or accept cash, so I left.
2. 2 hours later, hotel called to confirm transaction has failed and provided me details to perform cash transfer.
3. I’ve to find the bank with cash deposit machine, in towns I never planned to visit. Anuradhapura and Sigiriya are NOT big towns.
4. The cash deposit transaction wasn't smooth. Screen time lapsed abnormally fast. More details of account owner were required. I only managed to transfer on my 4th attempt.
5. The ordeal created inconvenience and my time was wasted solving the hotel's payment problem. For a mere USD10, it demonstrates lack of genuine hospitality on the hotel's part.

This is an amazing place. Unlike beachside holiday destinations, this was built for purpose. What is amazing was that it is a fully vegetarian and non-alcoholic hotel. Visitors to the holy city expect calm, serene, well catered for purpose of travel. The availability of a separate fully serviced purpose-built room for making devotional milk-rice was practical unexpected and fully free of additional charges. This is probably found nowhere else in the island.
Nothing to mention, everything was as expected.
A lift to get up to the second floor would have been handy for those with weak knees.
A curtain to cover the back wall in the dining room area. This would provide more privacy for the diners.

The rooms are nice, but not so clean (bathroom). In the First Night we did not have hot Water, but it was fixes the day After. But we had to ask twice for fixing the light in the bathroom and for Tools paper. Some Staff members tried to their best.
The rooms were not made up during the stay, although there is a Lot of Staff.
