We stayed I. The area to go to Black Dog Salvage, the place was close and convenient

The place looks just like the pics. Clean & neat. Neighborhood? The stay was great. There was coffee, tea, cereal. Bath supplies. Everything to get you started on enjoying your stay. 2 bedrooms up & 1 on main floor. Off street parking. Quick response from owner on messages sent. Thank you. ps. the wedding was nice. 😊

The property is nicely done inside. A few owner edits could make it even nicer. There is wifi in the house, but the information to connect wasn't published anywhere. We found the info on manufacturer label on the router in living room, but some people wouldn't think to look there. It would be great to have a sign with that info on it somewhere in the house. The downstairs toilet bubbles water anytime the upstairs toilet is flushed. The water bubbles out enough to get onto the toilet seat. This should be fixed, but if it's not, you won't want to be sitting on the downstairs toilet when the upstairs one is flushed. The neighborhood is an older neighborhood, and gets quiet and dark at night. But you're a very short drive from Downtown Roanoke (probably too far for a walk). So, accessibility to the center of town is great.

We did not get out of our car, let alone stay at this house which is located in a slum area. The first thing we saw as we approached the house was a shirtless, homeless man pushing a grocery store cart right across the street. A dog sat on top of belongings in the cart. I have a photo as proof. The house next door either had a open door, or no door, with junk on the porch, in the yard, and on a truck out front. There was a vacant lot behind the house and across from it another unkempt home as the rear view. I have photos. The VRBO home had a privacy fence on one side, but I still knew what was close to it on the other side. Having not gone inside, I didn't see the house's interior. The photos posted on the rental site show an updated, clean interior. The house indeed looked updated, really a gem in that slum neighborhood. When I checked back through the site's photo, I realized that the owner didn't disclose the house's surroundings. Only one exterior of a walkway/privacy fence is showing. With the lack of exterior photos, the newly constructed privacy fence on one side, and the alarm system advertised outside, I believe the owner knows location is a problem and is being dishonest with his listing. I've stayed at a number of VRBO homes and never had this happen. You may want to look into this listing. I can't imagine anyone paying to stay in that house if they had knowledge of its location. We checked into a safe Hampton Inn and will be contesting the charge.
