Stunning setting, immaculately clean, lovely bed and shower facilities. Outstanding host, incredibly welcoming, friendly and accommodating. The host also had snacks and drinks you could purchase in the evening for a very reasonable cost, we just left the cash in the room, but no major meal facilities so well worth buying something for dinner en route so you can enjoy the beautiful terrace for dinner. There was even a fridge in the room. It was well worth the small deviation off the Camino path and wasn’t far away from the path, and easy to find. Having breakfast overlooking the beautiful hills and the chickens was well worth the money, and included food we could pack up and take for later in the day. Starting our next day’s walk from here was absolutely beautiful, one of my favourite days on the Camino. I wish I could stay here all over again.

Værten var meget venlig, høflig, og serviceminded. Værelse og badeværelse meget pæne og rene. Huset ligger lidt uden for byen, men værten tilbød transport (mod betaling) til nærliggende restaurant. Værten tilbød morgenmad (mod betaling), og vi fik en fantastisk morgenmadsbuffet. Alt i alt et fantastisk sted, som varmt kan anbefales.

Casa Alexandre is in a beautiful hillside location, with stunning views, next to a dairy farm, just off the Camino. Alexandre is the most gracious host. He allowed us to do our laundry. He took us to a local restaurant Alta Maria, for dinner (€20 return), which was excellent. You can buy beer (€2 with crisps or nuts), wine, soft drinks. Complimentary water on arrival. There are sun loungers on a terrace and lots of outside furniture to relax on. You can buy breakfast for €14pp. Very clean, including the shared bathroom which had a wonderful powerful shower. I recommend and would stay here again. Thank you for your kindness Alexandre.

When we stayed, it was very hot (34 degrees). There was no fan in the room and due to the countryside location, you can only sleep with the window open if you bring earplugs; the neighbourhood dogs are outside barking all night, and Alexandre's rooster wakes up before sunrise. There are only a couple of restaurants in Balugaes and no shops for groceries or supplies. There are no cooking facilities, or kettle/coffee.
