We stayed in Bella Leona apartments that definitely need updates (broken blinds, leaking flush valves, old mirrors, etc). The apartment complex was outside (around 1/2 mile) and it wasn’t easy to communicate with the staff when we needed, so be aware of that if you’re thinking of booking this apartment.
On the other hand, the resort is amazing, the staff is cordial and happy. It’s clean, the amenities are great and well maintained. The activities available are great (butterfly garden, guided hike and workout in the pool).
It’s almost 2 hours away from the airport. It was easy to drive there, but make sure you enter in ‘Leona beach club and resort’ entrance because the GPS indicated a non-paved road and wasn’t fun at all.
The food in the restaurants are good and not that expensive. They even have a grocery store in the resort with the same price range as the outside grocery stores.
In this resort you will be in touch with nature and it’s amazing to wake up with the sound of birds, seeing the macaws, iguanas and raccoons.
The beach is clean, no waves and warm water (we visited the hotel in April).
Overall it was a great experience.

"The included breakfast was delicious except for:
1. The orange juice that had an artificial flavour
2. The "natural" beverages from the machine that were sugary"
