The Villa Toscana

This is a true B&B that was built in the 19th century, so, as advertised, it's not a hotel experience. That said, the property is clean and well maintained. This neighborhood of Chicago is noted for it's friendliness, cleanliness and safety. We felt safe very safe on the street even at 2am. I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again. My only disappointment was that the amenities on our floor and the breakfast were not attended to. We only stayed one night, but did not see a staff member the entire time. The water cooler on our floor was empty the entire time we were there, as was the coffee maker on our floor. The main floor breakfast also had no coffee or instructions on where to find it so we could make it ourselves. There was no milk for cereal and no batter for waffles. We ended up grabbing bananas and getting coffee on the outside.

Great location, beautiful charming spot in Chicago that is quiet but somehow in the middle of a big social scene

Charming, a great deal for the location. It was a bit tricky confirming reservation and getting check-in information. The instructions you receive after you have made a reservation correctly state that this is not a hotel experience and you are in what was originally a home. Also - bathroom is shared.
